this may not apply to everyone, but for me, sometimes my game gets laggy and it makes it impossible to play. I have good internet, but since im on a LAN, sometimes all the bandwith gets taken up or for some reason and theres a lot of lag, so one thing i do b4 i open up bf2 is to test my ping and if its high, then ill just go play some non multiplayer game.
Go to start->Run and then type in "cmd"
after a black window with some text pops up, just type (without quotes)
"ping www.google.com" and it will test your ping on that website. It doesnt matter on the website, i just used google because it always loads up fast. You can try another website if you want.
this is just one way, i mean you can just go to the server list and the ping numbers usually tells u how your ping will be around on that server, or by joining the server, but i just thought that this way was much faster
