Brand new Hard Drive
Fresh XP install with updates..
trying to load BF2....

Get the following Error... Anyone else???
MD5Error:E:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Objects_client.zip, Retry?

I AM DUMBFOUNDED AT THIS...on a fresh PC...

Ive also seen someone also say to test the md5 checksum for the cab in the dvd. They suggested downloading this program :http://www.accuhash.com/download.shtml and in "tools" choose "hash calculator" click on file and browse and chose a cab in the cd, (small one) click on "calculate" and copy the result in the compare field.
Copy the cab from the dvd to your hard disk. Do the same thing, and click on compare. If the hash are different you may be affected. So try changing them to the same hash.

Ive also heard that if you replace the affected zip with a replacement copy of it it might work. I had to try this though to find out if it works.

No love...

It loaded and I Played single player ok..
Checked the multi player servers... found 20 or so...
Realized I hadn't patched yet...

Patched..
Now its back to the Going to load and Crashing back to Desktop fun...

there should be a patchlog.err file in your BF2 install after applying the 1.12 patch

Can you check it and see what it says?

I see a few things in here, probably the issue.. Highlighted below
I assume some of these warnings are for SF patches that would not exist on my Standard BF2 install... But the Error on the bottom of the log... could that be a problem??

I should probably let you know that i've been getting this from my BF2SF installation as well. I've contacted EA regarding this and I get the same-old automated fixes that the techs just choose from their list. There is a known (but VERY small number of people) who cannot play SF because of their ASUS mobo and Digital Raptor HD's (is that what you have?). Also, some are saying it may be the memory. There is some combination in our computers that is royally screwing us over.
There are even complaints of it ruining almost all installations of games. Luckily, Special Forces is the only game that has affected me.
I have given up on installing the game since it is quite useless, i spent at least 10 hours trying to find a fix. There is none, and I hate to think grimly. Let me give you some links related to this:

I fixed mine...
DO u get the same error???

error ept0009: Invalid Patch File 'E:\DOCUME~1\Brian\LOCALS~1\Temp\bye2.tmp\Disk1\bf 2\patch.

if so... remove your ram, except for 1 stick... load the patch then...

worked for me..
