Crash problems after installing SF

I have just bought SF for my comp. It has handled bf2 perfectly on the lowest setting, until i installed SF. Now i cant even play bf2. Everytime i try to log on a server in multiplayer, it instantly crashes. However, it doesnt crash when i play single player. I have tried installing the new v 1.12 patch, but i get an error telling me "bf2cdkeychecker.exe has encountered errors" and then tells me it is done patching. I have tried reinstalling Directx, and emptying my cache folder, but there wasnt even a cache folder to begin with. I have uninstalled SF and now the same thing happens to vanilla bf2.


AMD athlon XP 2400+
2 ghz 1GB ram.
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Windows XP pro
10 gigs left on my hard drive

thanks for the help, i am horribly confused and need battlefield before i throw my computer in frustration.

Time for an upgrade man. I used to have a fx5200 and ran the game at 20-30 fps. I suggest a 6600GT for maximum preformance/per dollar.
