Hey fellas I finally F^%$in fixed my lag problem. I deleted cache folders

go here

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

So far I have played 2 maps with average 45 fps at everything max 2X anit-aliasing.

I have 7800 gt OC, 2G ram dual channel, lanparty mobo, amd 64 3500. So I think the performance is on par with my rig :)

However the game froze(with a strange sound) when I got bombed with artillery. Any advice as to what caused it or how i can fix it? thanx!

That is related to your sound settings most likely. If you're using onboard sound especially so. If you have an Audigy card then you can run it on hardware, otherwise you may want to leave it to software rendering. Either way you're not going to have great sound. If you have a Live! card then hardware should work, although I would guess not on high.

And clearing you cache should have been your first step to trying to reduce "lag".
