Recently I had to start from scratch with my operating system. I installed Windows XP Pro, updated patches etc. I then installed BF2 -> SF -> 1.12 patch. MY system specs are:
Athlon XP 2500+ running at 1.84MHz
2 Gigs of ram
GeForce 6600 GT w/ 128Megs.
Now prior to this fresh install of XP, I was running Win2000 with 1 gig of ram and BF2 (no SF) ran smooth on all medium setting with 2x AA. Never an issue. Now I've tried everything and cannot get a decent framerate. I turned all lighting parameters to either low or off and within a few minutes my framerate drops from 35+ to 15. Doesn't matter if it's SF or vanilla BF2, it starts out ok then drops and stays at 15. For me, the game isn't playable at that framerate.
I know the lag issues with 1.12 are all over. Are there any suggestions beyond shelving the game and hoping they fix it? I'm not really interested in starting over again and installing 2000 to see if it improves there either.
