Hi, i got BF2 and installed it fine. I try to play it and before it really even begins, it freezes at the splash screen, and i mean nothing happens, i gotta restart. I updated it, same deal. This is on a fresh updated install of windows, i have no idea why the game won't start. I'm running a 2500+ o'ced, 9800pro, 1gig of ram...any ideas, ever heard of this before? thanks

Re: Freezes at splash screen
I sort of had the same problem, but it would CTD after the splash screen. After searching around I found one solution that worked like a charm. Try renaming your battlefield 2 folder under My Documents (My documents>Battlefield 2) to "Battlefield 2 BU". It seems that after the patch some ppl's profile folders got corrupted somehow. The next time you try to launch the game, the game should generate a new Battlefield 2 folder under My documents that isn't corrupted, and everything should work fine. That's what solved it for me, try it yourself.Comment

Re: Freezes at splash screen
thanks for the fast replies. But neither of them worked. When I say it freezes at the splash screen, I mean the windows splash screen, before it changes the monitor resololution. I double click the icon, the BF2 splash screen comes up and then nothing, frozen.Comment

So you click the icon, the monitor goes *clickclick* and turns black to load the game, then goes *clickclick* again and shows the desktop?Originally posted by DukeFettthanks for the fast replies. What res you running the game at? Drop your desktop to 800*600@60hz. Then if the game loads, set that the same and increase slowly.
Also, try opening BF2 in a window. Right click your Battlefield 2 shortcut (on the desktop I assume), and in the Target section, change "+ fullscreen 1" to "+ fullscreen 0". That will give a windowed version of the game. If it loads fine and you can see the game loading in the window, then its a monitor resolution/frequency issue.
Hope this helps

No, i click the icon, and there's no *clickclick* of the monitor, it freezes right then and there, it shows the splash screen that says battlefield 2 over the desktop. the one on windows desktop, where i'm NOT in the game yet. and it freezes, can't move my mouse can't do anything but hit the reset button on my computer.Comment
