jet missles

ok i have recently started flying with a jet but i have one hugee problem

i can lock onto a chopper just hovering and fire missles and the chopper not even drop flares and the freggin missles seem to go right through the freggin chopper unharming it meanwhile i fired 6 missles, i watch all go flying off into the sky
it **** me off to no end that when i fire a missle it sounds a lock and then i get a team tamage penalty.
also it seems like sometimes the missle fire extremly late only thing i could be thinking it that it is a ping problrm maybe? i dont know but some servers i can only get like 5 kills and other 20+

Choppers are hardest to hit with a missile unless you come down right on top with them like you were going to bomb them.

Missiles will typically veer off if there is an easier target for it to reach within the vicinity, sometimes they just veer off. Make sure you don't have any friendly units in the near vicinity either, if your missile doesn't hit the intended target and a teammate in an air vehicle is near by, your teammate is going to be ****ed. Which brings me to....

If you have a teammate between you and your intended target (ie, he is chasing down another jet and you decided to jump in the fray also), do not fire your missile, it will lock on to him, he is the nearest target with a heat source.

That happened to me yesterday... I fired a missle at a chopter when I was locked on to him and I was pointing at him... Then the missle just seem to turn at the last second and go straight at my teammate plane... I was like wtf?

but im a low flyer i usually stay low well atleast lower then some choppers while they are in route.
ill do atleast 4 flybys lauching missles and never get a kill.
as for firing around teamates im pretty good witht hat i know when to and when not to fire but just sometimes there will bo no teamate in site checking my HUD and ill fire a missle maybe like 30 seconds later i get a team kill or damage or something retarded.
i guess il have to try approaching from above but i cant think or many times that didnt work either

Use the machinegun instead the missles... btw you can hit choppers withot having a lock on them, just aim very stragiht at them and lunch the missle when you are realy close..... AND DONT KAMIKAZE FOR GODS SAKE ITS SO LAME -.-

I gave up on missiles against choppers long ago. More teamkills than it's worth. I only fire if I know there isn't a friendly between myself and the edge of the map.

they'll usually go through one side door and out the other - you have to stalk them from behind, wait for flares to drop, then launch missiles - while also firing on them with your cannon

lol, that's a "battlefield moment" I have those "battlefield moments" so often I don't even bother using missiles against heli's unless there are a few of them in the area, then when it goes astray at least it will hit the second helo. Dalian plant is great for that, a couple BH and Cobra's in the air near the carrier, just fire all your missiles, you will get some kills for sure.

Not what you aim at, but that doesn't matter. It's a battlefield moment

Interesting enough, yesturday I got into a very interesting debate with a self proclaimed "chopper whore" about the usefulness of missiles against choppers, I was telling him how utterly useless missiles are against choppers, in which he said it takes only "2 seconds for a jet to lock on and kill a chopper", that by arguing otherwise I had no idea what I was talking about

Oh and forgot to mention, the same guy got me kicked by telling everyone i was "jet hacking" because I manged to kill his chopper with my main gun. :p

u aint seen some even worse comments yet...

some smartass was giving a new pilot this tip: "dont use gun, it will take u the whole round to try shooting him down, just lock on him, fire the missiles". when i corrected him, i got flamed so badly. u gotta love kids.

flying low is the worst thing to do, u lose speed etc...

it is pilots like you who i kill in a heartbeat cause i swoop down on them.
