Patching the game - via Special Forces xp

Hi,

I read the forums and most of the threads concerning problems with patching the game. I have the same problem, just during installation of the Special Forces expansion pack. The update to v.1.1 fails at objects_client.zip (in the patchlog.txt I get a message that the file path is invalid) and I can't proceed with the expansion pack. I tried methods proposed by people here and by the "default" EA support - all in vain. Anyone has any more ideas how to make that piece of c*** working??

hmm, did u try to uninstall the core version of BF2?, if u didnt do that, reinstall bf2, install SF, and update to patch 1.12

Several times. The SF doesn't want to install because it gets stuck on the update process.

Have you tried deleting the registry entries between re-installs as outlined here?

I cleaned the registry with a freebie online program... hmm maybe what they wrote would work. Will post if I succeed. Thanks (hopefully).

A freeware registry cleaner won't necessarily delete those settings.

Best to do them manually as outlined by EA support.

We all want the "quick" fix lol, but put in the time and do the manual process that other have suggested. It is the only way to make sure you are starting clean. Also do not for get to update PB at after you have installed all of BF (including the patch). Good luck
