    Did BF2 kill my machine.

So in the middle of BF2 my comp crashes to a blue error screen, says some sh** like "shutdowning to protect etc.."..and a changing error message everytime I restart and try to start it back up normal, safe mode etc..

Then to top it off it comes back on hours later but crashes to blue screen, even better now the lights flicker but the monitor shows no image, stays in stand bye mode.

Took it to shop on my street, dude fools around with it. He haves problems getting any responce. Im in a hurry so I tell him to keep it over night, Ill call later to see if he has foudn the problem.

Well after talking to him I get told I need a new Hard drive and a memory stick. Says he suspects 2 things the graphhics card doing it or power supply, like a surge. Says the 1 of the 2 fried the HD and took a memory stick with it.
Now Im using a surge strip, and I dont think it would have been Bf2..
Could it be that Im screwed since I had a bunch of games on 512 worth of sticks. I had FEAR, WoW BF2 AO Civ4 etc...

So one good thing Im gonna upgrade the memory to 2gig no matter what else I have to buy to fix my box. 100 bucks for a HD and 75 for the diagnostic...then the price of my 1gig stips.

So any ideas or opinions on if this guy is making me buy the right sh**, any ideas on what ya thought happened?.

It would help to see some specs on the stuff you had in your pc, like power supply and stuff. Also a basic surge protector wont protect your computer entirely. Surge-master actually has a money back warranty on anything connected to it. A basic surge protector is for lamps and other NON-digital equipment. Also after you get a spike or surge, you are supposed to replace any of those cheap ones.

Had to finally register in order to give ya a reply... if you wanna check stuff out for yourself you can run Memtest on the ram ( http://www.memtest86.com/ ) ... you'll have to DL it on a friends comp of course but since your machine is BSODing...even though a RAM upgrade sounds like a good idea considering your only using 512. And as far as the HDD you can run Seagate hard disk diag
( http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/ ) or find the one specifically for the manufacturer of your HDD. Thats about all i can think of off the tope of my head... I do the while computer tech thing so i know how it is feeling like your getting screwed over by a tech.

*edit* lol didnt notice what you said about the power supply... definitely get that checkd out before you get new gear for your computer. prolly be a good idea to replace that as well if youre going to be replacing things on your box.
