SF Guns in BF2 Maps

Could someone please explain how I can use a gun in SF on a normal BF2 map? I have seen people using Flash Bangs as well as the other SF guns, but I can't figure out how to do the same.

Actually, I did do MULTIPLE searches and couldn't get anything.
And, that link above didn't answer my question. I was trying to understand why the SF unlocks weren't available to me yet.

I got it to work though, in SF it finally asked me what upgrades I wanted and these were then available in BF2.
