Building Cheap?

Hello, im looking for a computer thatll run bf2 pretty well for around 500-800. i dont need the monitor just the system itself. ive been to a lot of 'build it yourself' sites, but its just been so long since i last made one and i dont know whats good anymore. just wondering if anyone could help me out.

please dont get too crazy with the technical talk, like i said ive been out of the loop for awhile now, when i made my comp 40 gig harddrives were pretty big, so that should give you a good idea. heh.

if anyone would be so kind as to maybe have a list suggestion itd be greatly appreciated, and you can always aim me, tbdmatt.
i have a feeling i might need a lot more cash, hah.

YES, Building a computer youreslf is usually always cheaper! If you try to buy a computer whole from dell or something along those lines, you could buy each part seperately for hundreds of dollars less. Also, if you buy a computer from dell or such, and a part breaks, fixing it is a pain.

I myself bought my rig (listed below) after extensive researching. I bought them all off of Newegg (Excellent service and quality), and it shipped within a day. I too only needed the computer itself, so that alone only cost me about 7-800 dollars!

Just dont get lazy, and really spend the time looking into the subject.

should get a 64bit(or ready) processor because i dont think lot of mainboards are going to be produced.

Also... this mistake i made... get a PCI-E graphics port!!! I only have AGP 8X and guess what... they dont make graphics cards for that anymore and are hard to get already! I have the 6600GT grahpics card which cost me 140 euro, and does pretty cool job.

if its 500-800 euro's your talking it would be no problem at all to get yourselve a fat-ass comp without monitor

www.newegg.com you will find everything you need there and ya can build it for a decent price. but i dont think youll find some extravagent for 500-800$
mine cost 1600$ but i have alot of high end stuff.

Thanks guys, ive been looking into it more and more and im thinking a AMD Athlon 64 3000 or higher, with 1gig and that 6600 256, its agp but the motherboard im planning to get supports both apg and PCIe.

Its always the motherboard that gets me if you do it from a 'build it youself' website, because i can never tell if the motherboard will be good for the processor i use, or if its appropriate for what i want.

dont know if a 6600 256 MB exists but buy the GT version 128, still better than the average 256 MB cards... says nothing.

The ram you posted is PC 2700. Get PC 3200 for AMD 64.

Largely I'd agree with you, depends on where he want's to spend the cash. I didnt realize that I had selected PC2700 when I first looked at it. . Here's something better. . . slightly more expensive. . . but not unexpectedly so.
