Patching from 1.1 to 1.12 works, but starting game fails?

I'm having a very weird bug with my new BF2:SF game. I have Windows on a 6.3 gigabyte HDD and all my games on a 40 gigabyte HDD. I didn't have enough room for the required 3 gigabyte 1.12 patch, so I compressed the C:\ drive, ran some cleaning cool and finally got up to 3.31 gigabytes of free space. So I then patch the game, it patches, then I go to run the game and it says I get an invalid startup or somethign relavent to that, basically BF2:SF and vanilla BF2 won't start up, so then I reboot, and then it does a Disk Check, it thens finds an error and says it recovers it. So I'm like...hmmmm, I retry starting up BF2:SF in 1.12 and nothign happens, so I go to the BF2:SF folders, select patch, repatch to 1.1 and BOOM, it works.

Why is this? If it's any help I moved my My Documents folder to drive D:\. Although I doubt that's the problem. Anywho any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

-moved to support forums- A bug is something that happens to you in game, an issue about not getting the game to run is a support issue.

I would guess that moving your my documents folder to your D drive is the issue, because BF2 keeps all your settings in a folder in your my documents folder.

Why is this? If it's any help I moved my My Documents folder to drive D:\. Although I doubt that's the problem.

All your BF2 profile info is stored in \My Documents\ so I can imagine that it'd cause problems (and even bigger ones for Windows).

Could you try the registry fix that allows you to install properly without having 3Gb free on C: ?
