    PSU and video card

Hey, I just purchased an X700 pro video card and on the box they recommend a 300 watt PSU and I just checked mine and it is only 250 watts. Now, I do have the connector available to plug into my card but I'm afraid it will burn or something. Is it OK to plug it in because I do have the connector available that means my PSU isn't used completely. Thanks for your help.

I know, that's the easy solution but the thing is that I'm getting a brand new computer in like a month, so why buy a PSU now and then throw it in the garbage when the new PC comes. I just want to know if it's OK to plug a 300 watt card into my 250 Watt PSU since I have the available wires?
