bf2 SF

I received the bf2 Special Forces for Christmas. I'm having a hard time getting it to work. I deleted bf2, reinstalled it and installed Special Forces. When I went into the server list, there isn't none. I go into bf2 list and the listings are in red, telling me that I have an old version. Do I need to install the 1.12 patch ?
