"Patching failed" --> Not using SF

I just reformated my comp

I first installed regular BF2

then, installed 1.03 (171mb)

after I installed 1.12 (280 mb) and in the middle of "Patching, Please wait" , it pops up "Patching failed"

so wut..?

plz help , I really want to play BF now but the 1.12 patch just wont install

btw, this is the second time, I reinstalled BF2 but the 1.12 still fails, it's getting very annoying

good news my friend...

"there should be a patchlog.err file in your BF2 install after applying the 1.12 patch"

My docs > BF2 > DMP > Patch Log...

Look in that file.. open it with NOTEPAD

Read down at the bottom of the log...

Does it say something like mine???

error ept0009: Invalid Patch File 'E:\DOCUME~1\Brian\LOCALS~1\Temp\bye2.tmp\Disk1\bf 2\patch.

If that is what u read or close to it... its probaly an issue with your ram....

I have Corsair XMS 4x512 for 2.0gig total.... I removed 3 of the 4 sitcks and tried to patch... AND VIOLA... it worked...

I have played BF2 since the patch...
I have to admit.. it seems to be a bit lagy... so I added 512mb ram and its getting better... need to find out if I have a bad stick or was it a fluke thing...
