Some servers I have played on are really bad yea, but there are many regular ones I play that do not crash at all. hit and miss I suppose.

Yayyyy i figured it out its the compatibility issue with my X2 BF2 has gotta run from one core not two or you get the dissconections :) needs patching EA:)

I really don't think its PB.

People sometimes think updating PB manually fixes the problem.

The reality I believe is that they update PB, the REAL problem disappears and they think they fixed it!

But wait til the problem returns! I posted this on another thread:

                  Forget messing with your computer.

The problem is at the server end.

Just do a Traceroute and you'll notice the disconnects seem to coincide with a peak along the route, usually a hop near or at the server end.

Seems BF2 is more sensitive to ping spikes.

Either that or its the large amount of comms being shunted around that uses much more traffic than other multiplayer games leading to more internet jams at the bottlenecks.

I don't think it has anything whatsoever to do with the client end.

EA needs to address the cause of these ping spikes or make the netcode less sensitive to them.

EA certainly needs to be doing more research on this and communicating its progress to the BF2 community, at the VERY least.
