    Just fantastic.

    I recently recieved BattleField 2 as a Christmas gift but to my suprise, It doesnt work worth ****. I installed it properly and did all that good stuff then restarted my PC. When i got back onto my account after i restarted i was horrified, My PC had slowed to a grinding hault and its remained that way since. Despite that, I decided to start up BF2. Big mistake, I got in and started putting information in for an online account. So i filled it out and then was on my merry way "Registering Profile" or whatever the hell it says. So i wait, And wait, And wait. After about half an hour of waiting sitting at that screen i decided to turn off my PC.

    Once i restarted my PC i decided to download the Patch and see if that would work. I was wrong, When i opened up the patch it seemed to be going well until this came up;

    And it never went away. I sat there waiting for it for about 20 minutes until i finally got ****ed off at it and CTRL ALT DELETED its ass into an oblivion. Speaking of CTRL ALT DELETE, When i go into it and check the CPU usage it is ALWAYS at %70 - %90. Far higher percentage then when i had BF2 uninstalled. Im pretty sure my PC is well equipped enough to handle BF2 as you can see here;

    I have no other games on this PC and it was running perfectly... Until i installed BF2. To give you an idea of what my PC is like now i'll just say this, It has extreme difficulty opening MS Paint. Its sad.

    Any idea's?

        Lolz. When I went back to see the second link I think I clicked the first again or something.

        Anyways, sure 512MB is the recommended minimal amount of memory. Sure it can maybe get the game running. But really, you might want to look into another 512MB stick for this game. Yes, it's retardedly demanding, if that is indeed an adjective. But, the game itself's process on my computer usually takes a good 500-600MBs of memory when it's running. So, maybe if you have no other system processes running which is pretty much impossible, it could run well, otherwise, Dice and EA con people with their minimum system specs >_>

        Videocard looks good though and processor looks good enough, but most likely, it's that memory man.

          What processor do you have? Hope that's an AMD runnning at 1.7 because if it's an Intel, you're sol.

            The reason it probably hanged at the account registration is because of either the windows firewall or ZoneAlarm firewall not granting it access.

            You also have 512MB of RAM which is the absolute minimum required to run this game, patching on my 2GB rAM system took a good 5-10 minutes.

              yeah your RAM is bit low...

              ive got 1024, and if i run bf2 (medium graphics) its about 512RAM, and my patching also takes a couple of minutes (3.2 gigh) so im not suprised that it takes long @ your system..

              but check firewall like pirate says.. if you have service pack 2, just disable it, if you want to play, same goes for other firewalls...

                Re: Just fantastic.

                Okay, I round house kicked my firewall in the face and finally got an account set up. After that i left the patch to install... All night, And to my satisfaction it was fully completed when i awoke. My PC seemed to be running a bit faster so i started up BF2 and configured my graphic settings, Controls and microphone ****. After that i found a server and joined it without a problem. However, The grey little loading bar near the bottom quickly filled up in about one minute and then it said "Loading Complete. Verifying client data."

                This comes up where the little loading bar used to be, And it stays there. For about half a ****ing hour. By the time i actually get into the god damned game the round is already ****ing over and i have to start loading again. This is the most painful experience i have ever had, With any game.

                Please help.

                And how much do you think an extra 512 RAM would cost? And is it difficult to install?

                  This isn't tetris. You need a decent computer to play BF2, if not, you wouldn't have all the goodies that are in the game. You can buy 2X512MB of ram for like $70 now. The cheap no brand name ram is cheap. lol

                    So you are saying that the lack of RAM is making it load so slow? Is RAM hard to install?

                      Thats what the screen looks like after the little grey bar quickly loads up. (1 - 3 minutes) Then the "Problem" comes up, And the screen stays like that for about 20 minutes. Then it finally lets me in, But by then the round is already over anaway and i will have to load a new map. Thus repeating the cycle all over again.

                      I have also had a similar problem like this when i played Counter-Strike Source. (Currently Uninstalled)

                      I doubt this has anything to do with RAM or my internet connection speed. Im about to try to turn Norton Antivirus off and see if that helps BF2 connect faster.

                        NAV has a Internet Worm shield or something, try turning that feature off as it seems to cause problems with BF2.

                        If you want a free alternative to Norton, look at AVAST!, http://www.avast.com

                          Yes that is a RAM issue. The less RAM you have, the longer it will take. There are other factors involved too, but RAM makes the biggest difference. There is also something else wrong if it takes that long. Defrag your harddrive. So a virus scan. Do a adware/spyware scan with atleast 3 different programs. Disable your A/V and firewall. Do you have a router? And do you have Windows firewall disabled?
