Endless stuttering

Hi guys, I'm having real trouble getting BF2 to work. The problem isn't low FPS but rather a stuttering every couple of seconds which makes it impossible to play. I can minimise the stuttering by setting the textures to low but I don't understand why I should have to set them to low, and even if I do this on some maps the stuttering just doesn't stop. My specs are as follows:

3.2GHz P4
2GB RAM
GeForce 6800 128MB
M-Audio soundcard

Any help would be much appreciated.

does this happen all the time. ur comp is good for high levels. hmmm.... anything going around in ur background(firewall?,etc)?

Yep, I defragged last night. I tell you what I have just done though, I just increased my AGP apeture size to 256 and I have had 2 silky smooth games since then. I have no idea if that is what it should be set at but so fatr so good. I'll try again tomorrow, hopefully that is the problem conquered.

Yes, leave it at 256, this is what I have mine set at and it's what performs best for me too.

That was going to be my next suggestion for you too. :)

System BIOS which is accessable upon system startup. To access it you have to press the delete key or F8 whilst the system is performing the POST tests.

This is issue has nothing to do with your system its the game itself and has been happening since 1.12.

1.12 improved performance for me and I have not suffered any anormal side effects since, nor has anyone else I play with.

I had to register when I saw this post... I just bought a Gainward Geforce 6800GT 256MB Golden Sample (AGP) and my game's stuttering every two seconds too... The singleplayer works great, but multiplayer is laggy as sh1t and I don't mean network lag... I've tried older drivers and now got the newest Forcewares and newest BF2 patch which I think is the problem... So if anyone with the same graphics card has solved it, plz inform me too! :) Oh and I can play the game ONLY at 1024x768 @ Medium, or it will start to stutter, but the single works great with everything full at 1280x1024, so it must be the patch...

EDIT: Just tested SP and it's stuttering the same way as MP now... Didn't remember that I tested the SP last time before patching to 1.12... So both MP & SP is unplayable atm... And it cannot be the GFX cards powers, because my cousin owns a GeForce 6600GT and BF2 plays Max @ 1280x1024 without any problems, and our pc's are mostly equal... And some comparing, F.E.A.R works everything MAX at 1280x1024 without any kind of lag... Something wrong here, huh?

Zombie i agree. i had no problem with the game. my comp specs aint the greatest bt enjoyed lag free gaming until the new patch was released.

solution...i just stopped playing the game. i dont see why i have to upgrade my computer for something that worked fine in the first place. my specs as follows

3.2Ghz processor
1Gb Ram
Geforce fx 5600

Well... I found the problem on my comp.. Went to BIOS to see if the AGP's Ram numbers are okay, and there were only 64MB on, switched it to 256Mb and now it's running everything max at 1280x1024 (SP & MP) without any problems... Don't know thought what might be your problem, Locky, as mine was because I changed the graphics card... :|:
