Well summarised, the 5.12 and 5.13 give a better performance in BF2 for most people. Though you will likely have some ghosting in the nightvision in BF2:SF. I personally prefer to have some more FPS, since the few times I use Nightvision don't weight up against the performance boost for me. Also the ghosting isn't to horrible, but when facing bright textures it's annoying.

It's something you have to decide for yourself, if you do suffer a low performance then I suggest to wait for the 6.1 drivers (to be released in January). If you feel the need for some more FPS, take the latest version.

Remember you can always switch back when you dislike the driver.

I don't see why you want an apology from Pirate considering everything you said, including the very title of this thread, is incorrect and misleading, since your warning was really about the 5.12 drivers (which has numerous threads in it's honor).

But like Talus said, no biggie. Quick question though: Is BF2 the only game you play? The 5.12 drivers gave a drastic improvement to Half Life 2. I actually hit 300fps with everything, including HDL, on high (and 1600x1200). Of course that's not the average (which is more like 60-80 with occasional dips into the high twenties with intense animated scenes like when the brick tower collapses). But still, compared to most driver releases, this one was fairly revolutionary for my needs. I can't wait to see what 5.13 does (which is basically 5.12b).

Dude, I wouldn't appologize, you're acting like an asshat. All he said is that people should try it for themselves. I agree. Want to know why? I have no problems with the ATI drivers ever, but some people do and swear by Omega drivers. I have problems with Omega drivers. It varies from computer to computer. Don't expect someone to read every document and technical release notes for every release, that is YOUR responsibility, not his.

And since this is a known issue, this entire thread is now void of any further need to be continued.

Really, my warning is crappy? I did notice that 3 or 4 people thanked me for the warning, most people don't read the driver release notes, do you read the instructions for everything you own? If you do you have far too much free time. My problem with Pirate is the way in which he replied to my post. Is this not the tech support area? Is this not a technical issue? Did I not help 3 or 4 people? This is a community forum board, I was helping fellow players who also do not read the release notes. That was my point. My motives were purely altruistic, not meant to be a slam or a flame war. If Pirate had not barged into the thread all "WTF! So we should all stop using it?" and simply replied with a "thanks, great info, by the way it is also mentioned in the release notes, check it out (and posted the notes), "that would have been more mature and appropriate. Right? I am sure everyone can see that.:|:

I didn't see a "WTF!?" anywhere in Pirates post.

All he said was that just because it doesn't work for 1 person, doesn't mean it doesn't work for anyone. As with anything you can always find 1 instance of something going wrong. If we followed your logic, no one would fly planes, drive cards, ride bikes, or go outside because "WARNING I KNOW A GUY WHO DIED OF SKIN CANCER CAUSED BY THE SUN". (note: that was grossly exagerated to get a point across).

Anyways, there was nothing wrong with what Pirate said, but you however trying to get an appology and attacking him, I have a problem with that.

Perhaps entitling the thread differently would have helped your cause. Perhaps reading up on "netiquette" would provide a much needed releif for those of use who actually help people rather then just post useless crap, or ask questions that have already been answered. I can tell you from experience it gets annoying and ****es me off that I have answer the same question 10 times because most people are to god damn lazy to use the search function. Which is why you will see my new title "Forum Search Nazi" in my signature. From now on when someone asks a question that has been answer that will be my immediate response "Use the Forum Search".

I want to thank you for posting your problem. It's good info if it's in the 5.13 readme or not. I am running 5.13 right now but i never read the notes either...I never do (until I have an issue). So far no issues but it could be that you only have this issue with certain settings, who knows.

People criticize because it makes them feel "bigger". And it's so easy to tell someone what they did wrong AFTER they did it. Just ignore the comments. If they don't want to read about BF2 issues then they should go into a different forum. Your's wasn't a dumb post at all. I've seen some dumb ones and this isn't even close.

I am a 35 year old Former Marine Infantry NCO, I am pretty sure I have survided more than just a little of the the "real world".
To be honest, I am not sure why you chose to come to Pirates defense, however maybe if you read the reply I made again, you would notice my quote was meant to summarize Pirate's reply not quote it verbatim. I beleive you have over-stepped your place, you don't need to be giving anyone advice until you have walked in their shoes. You don't know me, as a matter of act you know ZERO about me. Drawing your conclusions about someone from a thread is like judging a book by its cover.
Also your skin cancer example is a little unrealistic and way off base. Considering more than one person thanked me for the info, you were again wrong.

yes, i read instructions for everything i own. they're there for a reason, and you just proved with your initial post why reading them would be beneficial to all. not only did you not read the release notes, even after having problems, you did not bother to consult them, instead you come here and start a worthless thread when the solution to your problem is right there in plain sight. sure, 3 or 4 people (fellow retards) thanked you, that's what i have started to expect from these forums. i'll sure that atleast 90% of the people on these forums have such a low IQ that it wouldn't even show up on any of the standard scales. as far as me having too much time, look at the number of your posts (300+ as against just 97 posts by me), maybe you should start using your time in a more productive manner.

More productive, like say your 400.96 hours (2.25 hrs. per day) of BF2?
Calling people you don't know retards is a way of showing your own stupidity.
I guess you have time to sit around and read release notes during your lulls in BF2 carnage. You should be commended for that.

I don't reccomend it, Im using Omega's currently however 5.12 was fine, 5.11 was fine too. Stick with your current driver if you have SF.

To uninstall 5.13 you need to download the Catalyst Uninstaller I believe or if you have system restore, that works fine too.
