crash to desktop while loading...tried everything...

Hi yall.

I have this major problem...
I did read every topic and tried everything to solve it.

When i try to load a (sp or mp) map it crashes to desktop when reached
60%.i changed videocard allready from fx5200 to ATI radeon 9800 SE.It used to crash at 50 % with fx 5200.(at geometries)
But it still crashes.. i tried:

reinstalling OS
reinstalling drivers and updated
reinstalling BF and patches
deleting cache files

but nothing works...
i really hope that someone knows what the problem is..cause im gettin sick
of this.
I want to play!!!!


Please dont say that i need to have the minimum specs...

i tried a few thing and now it locks up at 62 % for about a minute and then goes to desktop without errors???
i need help!!!

Did you use Driver Cleaner to remove all traces of previous nvidia drivers?

tried the cleaner but nothing...
it used to run fine but all of a sudden it crashes..
i reinstalled my computer even the OS and still nothing...
i want to play!!!

Do you have any mods? At the bottom left under the optimizing graph you'll see word(s). "Loading Objects" or some such. Is it stuck on the same word each time? My guess is yes, and therein lies your problem.

Do you have any mods? Some amateur modders first versions altered the original content and a bad zip file will result in an error unpacking the files. You may have to uninstall and reinstall. It's not entirely necissary, as there is always a way to isolate the problem and fix it, but it'd take longer than just doing a fresh install. And yeah, use a driver cleaner. Good luck!

no i dont have any mods.did a fresh reinstall and still nothing while loading a map.It crashes while loading geometries so i thought its the videocard.i bought a new one do ill try that thnx for the reply

s%#$@ still the same problem...bought a new card and it crashes on 62% again on loading the geometries...i reinstalled everything again,even the OS but still nothing..i did get into the game when i first started it but the second time it crashes again...EA and dice lost me...!!!

What Os are you running? My friend was doing the same thing since the new patch came out. He was running Win2K, so I loaned him a copy of XP Pro and since then he has had no problems with loading or blackouts back to desktop.

I registered to post a reply, I have the same problem. I bought a new pc and cant get BF2(SF) to work on my new PC. I keep crashing to desktop partway when loading a map/game. Most times without any error message, seldom with a "memory sanity check" error. Its very frustrating.

I've tried the following:
1) installed fresh OS (Windows XP SP2)
2) uninstalled and re-installed BF2 and SF multiple times
3) deleted battlefield2 folder in mydocuments
4) updated audio drivers
5) updated graphics card drivers
6) updated motherboard bios
7) updated DVD-ROM firmware to latest
8) updated punkbuster manually
9) updated safedisc drivers (copy protection)

Bulletproof, Im wondering what we have in common to try to identify the root cause. Ive read some where that sanity memory errors were cause by SATA bios drivers, do you use a SATA hard drive or the traditional IDE hard drive?

Some more specs of my computer to help with root cause analysis:
Windows XP Pro SP2
3.2Ghz Intel 2MB L2
2GB RAM
250GB SATA-II HD
Nvidia 6800GS 128MB
Viewsonic 19" Widescreen LCD
Creative X-Fi Sound Card

i find that bf2 runs buggy with win 2k, try the new 85.98 forceware, i use an ide hd, i have had this prob, but since installing the latest nvidia driver it seems to be ok, not perfect but ok!!

Is the FX5200 Supported by BF2 anyways ? Does it have Pixel Shader 1.4 ?

FX5200 will run bf2 yea.

BF2 with the latest patch probably wont support the fx 5200

i bought the radeon 9550 256mb and battlefield 2 and special forces runs fine.
the only thing is now when i quit BF2 the comp crashes with a strange screen.....but atleast i can play again lol
