Defragged - fps is cut in half!

I just defragged my comp, and my fps was cut in half. Im getting 15/20fps now, with

3ghz
2gb ram
radeon X850

what the fudge!

That is odd.

Are you SURE that you did not change anything else?

What defragmenting application did you use...Windows XP's built in defragger?

Have you run other benchmarks or other games to see if the effect is global or just particular to BF2?

Interesting. I, Like talus, would like to know if you benchmarked it with anything else and what program you used.

I allways defrag (daily with the ms windows aplication) so i wouldnt notice anything different in continuing to do it. But if you used something else...

** Just noticed... by cut in half. Do you mean you were getting faster and it is slowed to that? Or your slow speeds were brought up to 15/20 (because 15/20 is not that great given the specs of your system)

Nope didn't change a thing. Just re-installed the updated ATi drivers an the framerate went back to normal 35-40 fps.

Usually re-installing SOMETHING tends to fix things

Yah, usually. I was going to say that sucks. Even the 34-40 FPS is kinda low.

What fps are you getting?

I can't get any higher than that.
