Re: Will you use a Mic
Self conscious about your voice?
Hmmm... I never really thought about that as being a reason for people to not use their mics. Not really suprising. Lots of people are nervious as hell about talking to people they don't know.
Out of curiousity, do you hate ording pizza too?
I'll let ya in on a little secret: it's not what it sounds like, it's how it's said. How you say things is something you can work on. Talking more is prolly a good thing for ya to be doing.
Edit:
The poster does sound a bit young, possibly. Likely his source of insecurity.Originally posted by Tyler HudsonWhy all the hate?
So sad.
Still, you guys don't need to be raggin like that. Sometimes a little jaded bitterness is amusing, sometimes it just makes you look like an arsehole.

Re: Will you use a Mic
Yes I do use a mic when my teammates use it also. It's a great way to plan an attack and get some good teamwork going.
I still wonder why some people don't want other people to hear their voice on a mic?

Re: Will you use a Mic
I myself am all for mics. Mics are really what brings the squad together and helps enforce teamwork, unison of thought, and nice gameplay. Most join a squad simply for the look, or to be able to spawn on the squadleader wherever he may be. I try to use the mic whenever possible as a result.
I'm sure there is a wide majority that don't use their mics simply because they're self- conscious about their voice and how they sound. They may think they won't be respected as highly if they're heard with a young whiny voice, Which is very true, as the second I hear a little whiny voice, I just wish I could mute them. No Hating on my part though.

But my voice seems too weird in mic:wall:
And yes, self-esteem is one, but I don't care much in bf2...is not like ppl know me or what :p

Re: Will you use a Mic
I have a semi broken mic. I never use it because no one ever uses theirs. What's the point of talking to myself? Just another wasted feature. If this game were rated M the amount of people using mics would rise dramatically.

And that is exactly why nobody uses it. Because of that same mindset and outlook.Originally posted by bitvomitI have a semi broken mic. I never use it because no one ever uses theirs. When im playing and someone starts using it to play tactically, that will get me into the mood, and I will begin talking back in comms. Just start, and you should get a return.
You really think inbuilt comms are a waisted feature? How is it a waisted feature for all those serious squads that DO use it than? Is inbuilt comms a waisted feature for CS, AA, and other games with it?
If it has a mute feature in times of obnoxious children, inbuilt comms can only be for the better.

Re: Will you use a Mic
Oh come on. You edited out your comment about not feeling you've got a good voice. Granted, sometimes it's annoying to hear some 10 year old yapping up a storm, but...Originally posted by MahoroI like to talk to ppl in person, but I don't feel like talking on a mic.....
That's one of the major reason
Awhile ago I had just loaded and joined a squad. I said my standard "Mic check, anyone reading?" questions to see if anyone would reply (I knew my mic was working fine). Some kid answers "Yeah, I hear ya!!". I guessed his age to be about 10 and shuddered. Wounderful, I thought, now I'm gonna have to listen to that all fricken round.
I'm pleased to say he suprised me... as both a player and a mature person. He wasn't yapping off about how cool and awsome everything was. He took commands and warnings well. Confimed he heard then shut up. He even saved my life a couple times by calling out good warnings.
By the end of the round, I had to ask, "how old are you anyway?".
"I'm 15", he said.
Ouch. I felt bad for him. He really did have a painfully young sounding voice... infact, I thought he was a girl right up until he made a comment refering to himself as a male.
Reguardless, we stayed in the squad together for several rounds and I enjoyed him very much as a squadmate. Really added to the game.
So yeah, ditch the selfconsciousness.
Ya don't need it.

Didn't we just talk about this?Originally posted by bitvomitI never use it because no one ever uses theirs. What's the point of talking to myself?
Sheesh. Still making excuses rather than putting out the effort.
I rarely go a round without someone replying to me... or at least using their "Ok" and "No way" hotkeys.

Re: Will you use a Mic
I remember that some of the best games that I have played so far have involved using the mic. Some times I try to get people to speak on the mic. Sometimes it's successful, sometimes it's not. But when you get a squad together with at least one other person with a mic, Battlefield becomes one great game. It gives a great feeling of teamwork and also accomplishment. I think it's a great feature. Too bad it isn't used as much as I wish it would be.
