ok i didnt play bf2 for like a month but after that when i turnd it on it said i need new patch so i dl the new patch then i restarted and turnd on bf2 i went to my favorits (servers) and the lowes ping shown was 150 i said to myself its probably i lil bug it wont be that laggy ingame so joind and i did get a 150 ping i was like wtf it was imposable for me to killl anyone and the thing is i used to get a 30-60 ping on allll of these servers before i have no idea what to do??? plz help

my comp specs are:
intel pentum 4 2.7ghz w/ hiperthread
1gig mem
80g harddrive
128mb X300
winXP
my internet is sbc dsl and i got 2900down and about 400up

Patch improved net performance for me, all UK servers give me a ping of 10-15, are you sure nothing else is running that may be taking up bandwidth or causing latency increases?

XFire is a common criminal of this.

i had aim and xfire on at same time but i turnd bf2 off turnd xfire and aim off and tried bf2 again dame problem but i nevver had this problem before even when i had xfire and aim on i had a great ping

I have the same issues, its Gayspy, erm GameSpy. It has terrible net coding, worst game broswer ever, but since EA insists on using it, its all I got.

that my speed but it was much better before i got the tcp optimizer and i completliy skrewed it all up

Ok...now, are you talking about the ping you see on the in-game server browser screen or the ping you see on the score sheet while in a match?

Do NOT trust pings given to you by the in-game server browser. That thing is so screwed up.

Your speeds look fine.

Now..let's check the TRUE latency of your connection.

Either download pingplotter or use the following dos command:

Start->Run->cmd (to get to the command prompt)

tracert ###.###.###.### (fill in the IP address of a BF2 server)

or you can do a trace to a popular site like google
e.g. tracert www.google.com

Post the results here.

Ping looks perfect.

So.,..is the game actually lagging and telling you your ping is too high once you're in-game?

If so, make sure punkbuster is completely up-to-date.
