    VOIP: Red, Cracked Icon?

Sometimes when I speak with VOIP the green icon changes to a red, cracked one? What does this mean and how do I fix it? I assume it has to do with the activation threshold?

Try setting threshold to 0 and see if it still happens.
Yes it does have something to do with activation threshold. If you have it set too high, then BF2 VOIP will notice that you are trying to send info (press B) but no info is coming from your mic. Therefore it will give you the red speaker icon.

Hope you get it sorted out soon

I thought the red icon means you are talking too loud and its transmiting some static.

If I am worked up and using it (and thus being loud), I will see it cracking.

However, if I just talk in a normal voice, I don't get the problem at all.

So, I don't think that it is because your threshold is too low because when I speak in a regular voice, others can still hear me (I know because I have convos with them) and it doens't go red.

Not sure exactly what it means tho for your settings, but I think it is that you are talking too loudly.

When it's a red cracked icon, it means that your squad cannot hear you clearly, thats why they are running about in a randomly suicidal way.
When its a green icon, it means they can hear you, thats why they do the exact opposite of what u tell them.

Seriously tho, your mic is oversensitive probably or too near your mouth (if its a head set). I get it with my headmic too, but never with a desk mic. I just changed the sensitivity in the menu till it worked with both. It doesnt seem to make much difference to what the squad hear anyway when it is red.
