Some friends and myself thought about making a lan party as we used to do back in the Bf1942 days. As we set up the server we realitze that we can not play anymore against the AI bots but just amongst ourselves. Is there something wrong here or is this a feature? Have they removed the posibility of playing amongst AI bots? AI bots only for single player mode?

Actually I think there is a mod to let you play multiplayer and with bots but thats coop against bots I think. And yes, without any sort of mod, multiplayer = no bots, which to me is probably a good thing...except in lan parties. -

If you are happy with 16 player maps, you don't have to do anything special at all.
Just have 1 person play a map in single player and have everybody else connect to his LAN IP via the Multiplayer->Connect to IP screen.
It's undocumented, but it works.Comment

Thank you very much for these pointers. I´m quite shocked to realitze that play via lan party with AI bots is no longer suported. I wonder why.
So I just install that Mod and I can play all maps coop?Comment
