    9800 AA/AF Problem

After playing BF2 for a while at medium to low settings on my 9800 Pro 256mb card, I decided to try turning the video settings up a little bit. So I started with 2x Anti-aliasing and 4x Anistropic Filtering on the card settings then entered the game. No change at all. No AA, no AF, looks the same as before. So I try putting it up to 4x/8x and once again... no change. I also tried setting these options (at least the AA) in the game with still no results.

I've tried the regulard Catalyst drivers, WarCat drivers, and I'm currently on Omega drivers, but with each of these I still haven't gotten the slight bit of AA or AF at all. I've tried all the combinations that I can think of... setting Application Preference in the card settings and tried 2x and 4x AA in the game, tried settings both 2x and 4x on the card and the same in game, but still nothing.

Not the worst problem in the world, but quite a bit annoying. Any ideas or advice?

    Specs:

    P4 2.53 GHz
    768MB DDR RAM PC2700
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB (AGP)
    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi
    Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM HD

    Re: 9800 AA/AF Problem

The card settings will NOT work in BF2 as long as you have catalyst AI enabled. If you turn off catalyst AI through the control panel or whatever tool you use you will be able to set AA and AF levels for the game. AA and AF look enormously better when set from the desktop as compared to within the game, but it will DESTROY your fps.

In the BF2 video options AF is labelled "texture filtering :off/low/medium/high" but it is only partially applying the AF to certain things, as with AA where only certain objects get AA applied to them.
