Indiana Ziplines mod vers 1.0 released!

I found Special Forces to be a somewhat unrewarding single player experience. So I modded the hell out of it by opening the combat areas, adding more vehicles, Capture points and Helicopters. I Increased weapon accuracy so the bots are more of a challenge and for novelty's sake I made the zipline extraordinarily long and the grappling hook 4 times longer. Not only that, but when you're ziplining from one side of a map to another, you get rewarded with the triumphant theme music of Indiana Jones. :)

    Grab it here-
    http://files.filefront.com/Kysterama.../fileinfo.html

There are lots of other tweaks and additions to each map as well, so enjoy :) Night Flight and Devils Perch are now converted from night maps to "dawn maps" as well, which adds a new edge to the gameplay.

Here's the new combat areas and capture points for each map -

    Devils Perch

    Ghost Town

    Mass Destruction

    Night Flight

    Surge

    Warlord

Wow, very nice work there, some good changes. Seems you like Indiana Jones ?

This is what Battlefield needs, someone to step in and fix the issues.

I like how you made the zipline 10x distance, good if you don't have a vehcile.
Can't download it yet though so thats all the feedback I can give you.

Downloading now. I started reading this thread thinking you just modded the zipline but damn man, looks like a real mod you've got there! Are you on any mod teams or just on your own?

      Slightly off topic:

The only modding I've tried to do myself is putting BF2 and SF together in the same mod folder so I wouldn't have to switch while playing in either SP or online. I ran into a problem with modding the zip files. After rezipping, BF2 no longer understood how to access the data. I only got the game 3/4 loaded before CTD after unzipping the files and leaving them that way, or actually moving the data over to thier temp locations permanently.

The most boring part was changing the files to call up the bf2sf mod folder instead of bf2. I never went back to the work after the first day though because I started getting more into mods and switching between them is second nature now.

I still haven't played it yet (been busy downloading a dumptruck full of game demos) but I have a question: You opened the maps up but isn't Special Forces just like BF2 as far as the single player navmeshes go? Or did you open them up to make flying easier? I can't wait to try it out. I played SF online and wow, was it a completely different experience than Single Player (in a good/intense way), but I prefer SP most of the time. Thanks for making this mod =)

Re: Indiana Ziplines mod vers 1.0 released!

No, I just did this on my own. Remember codebasher originally openned the maps etc for bf2. I just wanted to do the same and give a little back to the single player community.

As to editing bf2 zips, the best way is to just open the zip and drag files in and out of it. Don't unzip the entire contents. Drag em out, edit them on the desktop, and then drag em back in. Works every time.

Yeah, the bots navmesh is still the same 16 player size. However, nearly all the maps have the navmesh covering somewhere between the 16 and 32 size play area. So I was able to put in extra capture points in the areas that Dice didn't use. I find the game more fun when there are more capture points.
Night Flight has a completely open combat area because I put a few jets on the runways as well. Also, I'm a chopper fan so I had to put an apache and a Hind in every level :)

Finally got to play it. Overall pretty fun. Are you looking for critiques or did you just want to share it with us? Thanks btw =)

There was at least one bug, but I dunno if it was your mod or what. I was on a stationary gun and couldn't let go of it. I don't mean that it was loads of fun, I mean that when I hit "E" it made a sound that I can only associate with "negative", and there was nothing I could do. Ducking and escaping out of then back into the game didnt' unjar whatever fused the two of us together.

Couple of other thoughts/suggestions but I'll wait to hear if you are interested in an overall/detailed critique.
