Turn off radio sounds?

I like to play as a sniper and it is very important to me to hear the enemy coming. It is so annoying when my commander start shouting 'Enemy infantry spotted' 'Enemy infantry spotted' 'Enemy infantry spotted' 'Enemy infantry spotted' 'Enemy infantry spotted' etc...... -.- CANT HEAR A THING while he doing that
(btw.: in SF it makes absolutly no sense that your commander is shouting in your radio while you are snkeaking....)
and when you are a sniper you are probably not after flags, so it doesnt give you any info that 'We lost command of an outpost'.

So how can I turn these sounds OFF !??!

I don't think you can "turn them off" anywhere.

Have you tried deleting the relevant .ogg sound files?

Well, you should give it a shot, it only takes a few seconds!
Just delete one sound file, launch the game and execute that sound - and see what happens. If it works, you can simply use two archives, one with all sounds and one with only the sounds you'd like - and even make shortcuts for launching BF2 with each different setup.

I think pb or at least the server would complain about it...we'd need some comfirmation about this.

Yeah, I'd expect the game to CTD, but I don't think PB will be acting up? If the file was changed, then yes, but deleted? Ah well, who knows how PB works..

I dont have time to test it cus I'm having exams atm.

ps.: I deleted the intro movies and PB didnt complain about it.

Funny you should ask..
Patch 1.12 totally killed my performance, and SF wasn't even playable (got 10-15 FPS ffs)! Pre-patch I used to run 1280x960@100 everything on Ultra High w/ AAxS8 and AFx8 - at about 60-70 stable FPS.

Now, after loads of tweaking since SF came out I'm running 1024x768@100, everything on Medium w/ AAx4 AFx4, and I get about 50 FPS on average, with dips into the low 30's at heavy areas!

Imagine yourself.. Spending nearly $3000 to get maximum graphics and sound in my favorite game, only to have to drop graphics settings because of an incompetent game developer. It's a sad state of affairs
Of course, HL2 and SWAT, the only other games I play, runs flawlessly on insane settings.

uhh, something is realy ****ed up with the 1.12 patch :/

ps.: I have 6800GT (thats also a quite expensive card) and when I saw my fps to drop to 15 I saisd WTF, if someone has ATI9800pro or NV6600 than how many fps can he get......... (not mantion the 9600 and 5xxx series...)

You sound exactly like me. I have a 6800GT oced to Ultra speeds, an AMD 3500 running at like 2.5 i think, 2 gigs RAM... gah, everythign except BF2 runs magnificently (Half Life 2, Civ4, AA, CS:S etc.).

They cannot be turned off. I doubt they'll ever be able to be turned off, although I'd love for them to be. I'd be really surprised if anything comes out in a patch that actually helps snipers in any way.

Yes, sniper class in BFV was much playable, cus there was more flore where you could hide and the scopes had a hundred times better zoom and not mantion the accurity... I wish BFV had stat-recording and more players, I would go back for sure!!
