Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Please don't, I've shot down plenty of choppers in my time of gaming, believe me.
The ability to shoot a few choppers out of the sky in no way makes them flying coffins. Besides, most pilots don't have any real skill so it's no surprise that you'd have "plenty" of success knocking some down.
A chopper pilot is a choper pilot. Skill or no skill, still a pilot. What is this "real skill" you speak of? I bet I could evade you and your gunner for a whole game of BF2 if we ever met in game. I could probably even shoot you out of your heap of metal.
correct me if im wrong but he paid his money just like you bro? I agree maybe there should be some sort of rank before you fly, but not everyone has the common sense to hammer single player until they get any good, infact some people seem to have little common sense at all.
Without sounding too harsh of flamey I really think you should just get over it.
I like to play as the gunner and im quite handy with the hellfire now, but there have been times when the pilot hasnt given me the angle I need to get it off for a direct hit... I diddnt spit my dummy out though cos you can spawn and try agen!
Precisely. Know what anoys me way more that bad noob pilots? Arrogant assholes complaining about new gamers. Everyone had to start somewhere. He paid the same as you, you don't own the game or the choppers, he is just as entitled to fly as you.
You get some noob gunner and you see a enemy chopper, you pop the nose to let him shoot tv, yet he spams chaingun untill w die... people like that should be banned form the game
Damn! the nerve of some noob playing the game!! Ban them all. Anyone whos not an instant expert should of course be banned.
Instant fix for chopper noobs: Make the physics realistic. Noob gets in, crashes, whines a bit, and then gives up because they aren't dedicated enough to learn to fly something with realistic physics and they stay out of the helos, problem solved.
Yea good idea. The game would be much better if only really good players got to use the chopper. I'm sure there would be much less whining about airpower ruining the game.
Are you guys aware of how bloody hard it is to control those TV missles? Espcially if you are trying to hit a moving target like another chopper. Then again I guess i'm just a noob who has no business being a gunner.
Unless you're in the MEC helo, TV missiles are pretty damn easy to control. The real problem is the hit boxes and flying through the enemy helo, not hitting it.
Hmm...I'm a pilot and I often hover in treelines and watch my area, but my gunners 60% of the time NEVER take the opportunity I give them-example.
-GOOD EXAMPLE- It was Dragon Vallery,I'm kind of tired so I fear that my movements might be a bit sluggish...well I go off into the field and get killed by a specops soldier,so I come back to the base and the cobra is still there. I decided to wait and see if anyone would get in,a minute later, nobody stood around it. I decided to take it for myself and not even after my rotors are ready to give flight somebody spawns and hops into the gunner seat. So I warn them that we might die quickly due to my tiredness, they reply with "Oh well,if we die then we die" respond. So now that the warning is pressed I begin the flight. Not long do we get in the air does a Z-10 come and try to jump on us,I get taken a bit by suprise and tilt back, next thing I know the Z-10 is destroyed and falling,in a split second my guner had used the TVM to blast the helicopter not even 10 seconds into engagement. I was rather impressed,I decided to compliment the gunner on his/her excellent shot, however I know how 'luck' goes (I once destroyed a cobra that wasn't even in my visibilty on level with the nuclear reactors...jeez I really need to memorize these things). So we assist a bit in the capture of the island flag. Then we got the flags other than one just ahead of the 32 player US base from the bridge (like I said, need to memorize),I then decided to hover behind a hill,my rotors werent visible from the other side and by the time you would see them,it was too late...I remember because I saw a Chinese APC then come rolling down the trail, oblivious,I used my rockets and the next thing they knew they were dead, probably took a second to recover from the ".........wtf just happened?..." shock. So anyway I moved up,getting us closer to the main Chinese base. I come behind the two grain silo thingies and between the pipes,I can make out an enemy APC and Tank,I know I can't take them both out so I was going to abort. However I decided to go on with it,my gunner had won my trust in earlier engagements and I hoped they would understand what to do. Sure enough he/she did,I bobbed up and attacked the APC,which was destroyed, the gunner then destroyed the tank, the main enemy force was then kaboom, gone.
Well for that area, the Chinese took back their base with the AA and engaged us midway,my gunner destroyed the APC but due the angle I though we were dead for sure,at our speed we would either hit the ground or the tree infront..I got a stroke of luck or perhaps survival instinct..or maybe more skilled,I don't know, whatever it was I pulled up and we missed the ground and the tree by an amount of cenimeteres, that impressed my gunner alot...I wish I had their name,I'd love to with them more .
BAD EXAMPLE- Alright, now were on Gulf of Oman, the map I originally learned to fly a cobra and slaughtered many. So I start and dash for the helicopter because everyone was going for the jets and fighting over them,so a gunner hopped in. So I begin my route,an enemy Mi-28 engages us,I fly above, the gunner uses the chaingun. The Mi-28 then gains up with us,so I tilt back, gunner STILL uses the chaingun,I quickly instruct him/her/it to use the TVM before we get killed, well a dang Su-28 or somethin comes and WHAM,kills us. I let this one swing. I get in again and the same gunner gets in,guess what? This time when we are engaged they just sit there and do NOTHING at all,its a good thing I understood the 'leading the target' so we could live. So third engagement, only now the gunner decides to fire...sooo lets see...I press C to switch to "clean" view so I can see what he's doing....this guy...is shoting directly at the enemy helicopter, that is flying at an angle, now he's keeping the sight on the helicopter (I saw the bullet trail) But its not hitting,he's going for direct shooting and not leading so he's hitting nothing,I get annoyed and bail out,the cobra then slams into the Mi-28 pilot foolishly follows the cobra that is pilotless, the gunner never switches and winds up being a smudge mark in the sand.
However idiocy doesn't just run in gunners but pilots as well...Gulf of Oman was on again,so I continued. Well somebody got the cobra and I got gunner,so I sit there and wait for us to get to the first base to attack...this idiot, stops the cobra short of the base,I figure he's surveying but nooo,he's then using the 'hop out' voice command nonstop,so here I am,in an attack helicopter thinking "Wtf?" and to worsen things,he then LANDS the cobra outside of the base and GETS OUT as if he thinks its a blackhawk or something.. I asked if he wanted to be gunner but no reply, well he then runs away,STILL using the 'hop out' VC..I tell you I just wanted to blast him right there, instead I just got in the pilot seat and flew off.
Sometimes I really wish...actually often I wish...that the producers would make it somewhat like America's Army, that you have to go through missions to do these things, and to **** the noobs and newbs off even more, you can't get into the vehicle until you have certified the training course.
But yeah bf2 little TVM bug is reaaly startin to **** me off,I'v had lots of opportunies to blast the enemy helicopter out of the sky.
1. My missile was loaded and ready but would not shoot if I shot, went out of view and back in,no matter what I did the damn thing wouldn't fire
2. I shot the missile but nothing came out but I had to reload, wtf?!
3. I shot the missile, and I know for sure because in the view I saw the missile slam into the cockpit yet its as if if just went through?,I'v seen a similar thing happen to me with the missile launchers,I see an enemy vehicle getting close to me so I fire, nothing shoots but I had to reload anyway.
Precisely. Know what anoys me way more that bad noob pilots? Arrogant assholes complaining about new gamers. Everyone had to start somewhere. He paid the same as you, you don't own the game or the choppers, he is just as entitled to fly as you.
I'm with you. I personally find the word "noob" inappropriate. Everyone was a first-timer at one point and was probably pretty bad at the game. :p If there were no new people playing the game, EA would eventually stop supporting the game and not come out with new versions. Without new people, you wouldn't have a game at all.
So...Thanks ALL Players for making this game so popular and fun to play and don't let the "Ex-Noobers" discourage your pursuit of perfecting the fine art of BF2-Soldiering!
What ****es me off is the people who camp around the helipad and firmly believe that they have a right to be in it when you've already been flying it since the start of the round.
Was piloting once on FuShe and my gunner was a bit crap so we eventually got blasted out of the sky. Then I see these 2 guys sitting round the helipad and go stand with them. I end up in gunner seat, but the pilot now starts spamming "get out" and i'm like "no way, asshat". Then he starts flying around and spinning in the air trying to scare me, he wasn't bad, I could tell he had a joystick, but he hit the side of the hill, predictably, like a retard.
I've had other people try to claim the heli as well. What's with the attitude? Does he feel insecure unless he's flying with his buddy Superfly? Can't they ask like normal people?
People seriously need to communicate more in BF2. You get some downright inconsiderate people. (and spanish guys who have no clue what's with all these people running around in the game)
This is exactly why I took my 60+ hours in attack helos and put it to the side. There's plenty of targets on the ground more than willing to eat a GL here and there.....I'll still fly here & there, but it gets old seeing 2309582139090280 guys waiting on the pad for one freaking helo.
Would be nice to see a few more maps with 2 per side, or even 3 per side. AA really doesnt have issues with helos like it does Jets...
But I'll just stick to capping flags and GL'ing people :)
To CNN Terrorist and the like, who complain about "NOOB" chopper pilots.
You're the "NOOB's" You guys whine about how the physics should be "realistic" If you tried taking a real chopper up even with your hundreds of hours of in-game time, it would be like watching a dog f***ing a football. You'd hook a skid and be on your back in less time than it takes for you to hit the "Page Down" button (as I'm sure you always do)
As some other guys have said, you don't own the game and you don't own the choopers. Even when I'm luck enough to fight my way throught the ocean of teamates on the pad, have I gotten in just to have the stupid pilot sit there spamming the radio: "Bail Out, Get out, Bail out". Offer some encouragement, or maybe some advice if someone is having "issues". Most guys don't even consider the poor guy in the front seat. I've been a gunner a few times, and almost always, my jackass pilot will just fly around tossing rockets at everything in sight, and won't sit still long enough for me to even spool up the main guns let alone line up a shot with the missiles.
You're forgetting the basics:
Your job as the pilot is to do the pointing, the gunner does the shooting.
I'm sick of you guys bitching about how good you are and how everyone else sucks at it. Until YOU GUYS go and get a REAL chopper license, you are the NOOB's, so get off the pad, and in the fight
As you know getting in the chopper is often hard cause there is like 4 people waiting trying to take it. Anyways so you get in as pilot(i can gun and pilot)
You get some noob gunner and you see a enemy chopper, you pop the nose to let him shoot tv, yet he spams chaingun untill w die... people like that should be banned form the game
you should have to get a chopper license before your allowed into 1
