    Repair Supply Crates!

This, I didn't know. If it's known, forgive me for re-posting OFN.

It seems you can repair supply crates! My roommate tripped over this and I rushed in to do some testing. It seems that when you get healed or resupplied via a supply crate, it causes damage to the crate. Eventually you use it up and it breaks.

HOWEVER, you can run out there and an engineer and wrench that sucker back up to full health! This can be hella handy in defencive situations. Apparently, they are consitered a neutral asset, tho. This means, like and empty vehicle, you can just park next to it as an engineer and use your auto-repair radius. You must do direct repairs on it. It doesn't seem to give you repair points either.

Anyway, interesting quirk. Thought I'd pass it along.

That is interesting. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the point of view) I dont see many people doing this for the simple fact that "You dont get points" for doing it.

You might while it is close to getting the that "smokeing phase" when something is about to blow up. The crate may not physicaly smoke though...

What all does Team repair point count for?

Hopefully, there's more players out there like myself. While I still play on mostly ranked servers, I don't really give a rats rear exit about wracking up the highest score or getting good stats. I just figure if I keep playing and having fun, eventually I'll get my First Sargent and grab those unlocks I ment to take (fooking MP-7 pic bug cheated me outta a usable unlock!).

Glad this doesn't seem to be OFN afterall.

An odd thought just occured to me...

Would it not rock if you could drag supply crates?
In real life, when a supply drop happens the first thing that troops do is to move out to recover those supplies and secure them someplace safe. Being able to drag a crate to a covered position where it's not going to get wasted by artilery would be very handy.

Ofcource, as is, you can gently nudge 'em into better position by using vehicles, but they're likely to break in the prosses.

                    Didn't I just say that?
                    :p
Gotta read a little closer chummer.

But yeah, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of being able to drag or push a supply crate around while on foot. Maybe require you to hit your use key while facing it to grab it, then slow your movment down drasticly while you push/pull the thing.
                    *shrug*
Never gonna see it in standard BF2, but if a modder wants to pick up the idea and run with it, that would be cool.

I hate it when the supply crate lands on a roof, like at Karkand, and it is hanging over the edge. IT should fall down, but it remains up there. What's even funnier is seeing it fall on someone... that's the best.

because it would cost ea/dice extra money to put that in

if you could push suppy crates I'd get all Tomb Raider and push it somewhere so I can get on top of a building :-)
