New to the whole movie making scene and I wanted to make a special remake of the a 1942 movie, but a Bf2 edition.

Anyway,

I have Fraps, I have Battlelauncher.

I know how to play it and everything but My questions now comes to the battle recorder.

How can I lets say go back in a scene ?
How do I add music ?
How can I view all the views ? All I did was right click and I got 2 views.

I have 2 seperate clips I recorded in fraps and I would like to join them together, how do I do this ?

Use video editing software, a common list includes:
- Windows Movie Maker (free but lowest quality)
- Sony Vegas
- Adobe Premiere (my personal favourite)

Both of these were made with Movie Maker which comes with your Windows XP.

I don't use battlelauncher, not even sure what it is. I always thought it was a program that found servers.

To answer your questions;
How can I lets say go back in a scene ? All you can do is hit your 'Q' and click 'Restart' which takes you to the beginning of the demo.
How do I add music ? In Movie maker, click on 'Import audio or music' find the music you want and drag it down into your timeline, (btw make sure you have your timeline showing by clicking on the 'Show timeline/storyboard option in the bottom window.


How can I view all the views ? All I did was right click and I got 2 views.
Use your space bar to switch characters, click on 'T' to go to freecam and your your wasd keys to move the camera around.

What file format will WMM accept ?

I know it accepts the fraps and just about anything else.

Thanks, Im now upto the fraps recording, but once I recorded the fraps it came out as WMV ?

and Windows Movie Maker doesn't accept this file format, am I doing something wrong ? I had troubles with battlelaucher, its smooth but I didn't like the set out.

One more question, To save it all, in movie maker, what is the process ?

File > Save as project ?

The only option it gives me is movie maker format. Any ideas ?

Also my fraps are bloody big, 5 sec clip 35 mb, any ideas how to reduce, how to set fraps out so it isn't so big ? Its very high quality atm, how can I reduce this ?

Save it as project while your working on it.

When your ready to convert and save 'Save to my computer' and choose 'Best quality' that will reduce it.
Typically for a 2-3 minute movie I'm typically usually using 10-15 gigs of hardrive space whihc when done ends up as a 55 MB movie.

With Fraps try using 'half-size'.

:hmm: I have about 3 min of my video done and i have around 44 gigs of fraps.. then again i am doing it a totally different way from you, hence why i couldnt even begin to use battlelauncher as it would take 3x as much time to record..


You really dont want to compress before you render your whole video.. becasue you loose even more quality.. the best advice i can give you is delete the fraps footage you are not using and allocate enough space untill you render your final.. and to do that in windows movie maker go to project, you press CTRL + P .. save to my computer.. enter your video's name.. and click the reccomended quality playback

No Battlelauncher, it's a program that records camera movement and renders it out to a video file with ANY resolution you want and absolutely NO loss in framerate (regardless of PC Specs) and can be done at High GFX with no loss in framerate.
