Hardware sound is screwed up!

dontthink hard ware works with the ac 97 i know that with my nforce soundstorm although it wounds way way better it casues game to crash every 20 minutes

Hardware sound is screwed up!

i have onboard realtek ac97 sound and when i try to use hardware sound in game it is just a mash of all kinds of noises, it sounds like every sound effect in the game playing at once.. i have the latest driver for the sound.. anyone know whats up with this? i'd rather use hardware than software because i think software sound slows the game down more

The onboard sound isn't good enough to use hardware decoding. You need an audigy or above.

Exactly, it is not a supported audio chipset.

Get an X-Fi XtremeMusic or better. You'll get a noticeable FPS boost as well going from on-board sound.

If you cannot afford that, then stick with Software
