Blue dots are smurfs

I'm not exactly sure when I started using the term and I only have a vauge idea why, but I've been refering to any blue player as a "smurf".

I was just playing with a bunch of random guys with battlecoms going, when I told the rest of the guys that I had a full load of smurfs and was heading their way.

"Ahh... what's a smurf?"
"Oh, sorry. Blue guys."
*lots of laughter*

It busted the whole squad up perty good. For the rest of the round, I was hearing the term all over the place.

"Damn, I got a smurf gunner"
"Stupid smurf won't get outta the way!"
"F:censored:ken smurf stole my car"
... and so on.

I thought you folks might find this amusing.

It's something about the way those blue dots seem to move around so blissfully unaware of the situation. Out of contact and just sorta there... ya know, doing their smurfy thing.

heh no kdding, soon people will be like , your a stupid smurf for tking me for the vehicle, *allchat* god my team is full of stupid SMuRFS!!!!! lol , but that is pretty funy, and go look at the newesty potd post #4 already used that term in there so he musta read this already. lol good thread though

I've seen/used it before in referance to Tribes 2. In that game you could make a single account name, but you could also make aliases. If you didn't use your main account name, it displayed blue. People who tried to hide their real account name became known as smurfs.

Then one day, it just used it in referance to all the stupid blue guys that were getting into my chopper while I was trying to get my squad mounted up.
It stuck.

Smurf already is as common as those terms. It refers to a skilled player playing under an assumed identity to avoid detection. Sort of like a ringer, but not quite. More as if you don't everyone whining when you join a server so you take another name. The many accounts of PlaneWhore are a good example. Those other accounts are his "smurfs."
