I think my performance is low w/ 7800GT CO

Well, basically, I'm not sure what kind of performance I should be getting, but I expected a bit better. I've been looking around and I don't see too many people with high resolutions...I've already reinstalled the game and driver, just not reformatted.

I've got a new eVGA 7800GT CO @ 470/1.1ghz. The driver version is 81.94. I play at 1680x1050 resolution with everything on medium, no AA, 100% drawscale. From what I see with Fraps, I seem to average around 25-40 FPS (I play city maps) but it goes around 20at times. I don't feel it's the smoothest gameplay either. My temperature stays below 60'C, and I'm not seeing anything wrong with the system. Because of my high resolution, I'm not expecting amazing FPS, but should I be higher?

Try other drivers most people like me get crap FPS just of 81.95 so try 81.85 which is what im on but im not sure if 7800's work with it.

CPU and RAM are a big bottleneck, the power of your videocard won't ever be used to the max with this system. For more frames on such a resolution you need 2GB of RAM and a 3500+ Venice or higher. High resolutions eat a lot of CPU and RAM resources as well, a videocard can't use it's power if he doesn't get the data through fast enough.

Agreed.... Your cpu can't drive that card! I had the 7800 gtx and was getting around 50 FPS, upgraded to a amd fx57 & 2 gig's of ram and now everything cranked to high with AA on and I get over 100 FPS!

hey if nothing works out, sell your comp, and come to alienware and get a better computer!
