easier to kill ppl with medium gfx settings? or low?

it seems when I have everything turned off players are kinda harder to see since i dont see muzzleflashes etc

anyone else agree?

I don't know about you guys, but ive noticed after playing on medium settings for quite some time that when i switched to high for a LAN (due to obviously there being less players to render, hence it being safe to turn up my graphics without compromising frames and such) that i found it confusing on some maps as the soldiers cast long and detailed shadows, which i often mistook for the caster themselfs, putting me in a temporary state of confusion. Also there is less cover when in low to medium settings, so i find it easier to se people...

Though, the point about draw distance is ENTIRELY applicable to the arguement. As i often find while playing online that ill be flying a chopper and my gunner will be shooting at something i can't even see! :laugh:

That gets annoying, which puts me in favor of high graphics, despite the shadows (which isn't even a problem on the majority of maps anyways.)

The more you have the graphics settings pumped up the easier it will be to see targets in general. So yeah it's easier to kill with better graphics, as long as they're not so high your framerate bogs down or you start to lag.

tbh i find low details the best, no shadows of haze or anything. Everything looks bland but clear. Muzzleflash is the only useful thing you lose.

Any of them will work.

To See?
Low light gets rid of shadows in BLDGs so you can see them hiding. It sucks... but it's there.

Used both high settings for bf2 medium some things low for sf and i gotta say once you get used to it no shadows really improve your chance of seeing hidding players. It's a matter of opinion but for me it runs better I acctualy see more stuff on lwer settings. just dont turn down your viewing distance that would suck :)

I don't know if it's true but I read that Effect set to Low gives you less visible smoke trails, so it's best to keep Effects set to High. That's what I'm doing at the moment. I also set Geometry to High because I read somewhere else that things pop into view closer or smoother that way.

Again I don't know if either is true but after setting Effects and Geometry to High I don't notice any change in general game appearance or framerate, so it doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I find it easier to kill peopel on low 1) because it is smoother and less laggy, and 2) because they stand out against the rather plain textures, making them VERY easy to see. Also you can see mines and c4 much more easily with textures and terrain on low, and see enemies' on buildings' shadows from the ground with shadows on low.

i played the game with everything low acouple times and it was alot easier to kill people cuz the game ran so smooth and fast.

I am forced to play on low because of my specs (not for long though ) and, I tell ya, I would DEFINETELY rather have nice graphics than have an advantage... I bought this game to have fun, not for competition, so, I honestly don't care that you can have an advantage based on settings ...(advantge in kills that is)

I agree 100% with this. I only add that despite low, you want effects on high.

geometry at high is pretty good as things come in to view a little sooner as well
