Unlike the tool and his "ub3r 1337 3lus1v3 1 shot tank kill" I'm going to post something I discovered last night...

Don't really play the engy class much as of late, but on vehicle heavy maps I'll try to armor whore it up a bit...

Anyway, I'm playing engy on Daging Oilfields, and there's an enemy AA vehicle on the other side of a fence, but from my position there's no spot in the fence to get to him closeby.

So I started tossing mines over the fence in the hopes that he'd run one over. He didn't, but was still sitting in the area, firing at a helo....

So I took a nade, tossed it over the fence, and it tripped the mines that were all around the vehicle - I got a [AT mine] kill from it :) So while having apc's blast your mines stinks, you can use that same thing against them...

yeah i did that once and the driver yelled at me and called me a haxer because "i did not even move you n00b!" lol

Its even better when you can maximize your inventory and use just one mine and one grenade. I initially was upset that mines can be so easily destroyed, but now I understand it is a blessing not a curse. It forces the engineer to place mines in areas with shadow and grass and water and not out in the open. Surprise and the offensive power is combined so it is a good thing.

You can also chain mines together (seperate them by a few feet) and then throw a grenade to set one off and they all blow. Great for flag defense, or if you are unsure at what point a tank will enter a chokepoint. If you can time it right you can also do take out a whole squad before they realize what happened.

u can also detonate mines with a tow missle, did it by accident, oh noes the secret is out!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, sorta makes like it like C4 that you can trigger by running over it Except your 'remote detonator' is a hand grenade

I wiped an enemy squad with a triggered mine by accident. I was comming on top of a building on Mashtuur, the one near US scan array. An enemy Vodnik came cruising in and I tossed down a mine near it hoping they'd hit it, but they didn't. They then started bunching up REALLY close round the flag so i lobbed down a grenade and all 4 suddenly went up in smoke from the nade/mine combo.

Don't think it's an uber trick however, placing mines is such a pain to do and most people seem to blow them up on sight anyway.
