    Wow, way to like quadruple-post.

Pretty interesting read. The fact they didn't cover any of the major bugs that disturb us, and the fact that you can't throw while jumping (C4, Grenades, Medic/Ammo bags) ****es me off. I can understand shooting, but throwing should be another thing.

Perhaps the worst dev chat I've read in a long time, and it gets a nomination to be in the running for the worst of all time. I see no mentions of a fix for the nametag bug, they just blow off optimization of the code, and wtf, maps that look similar to SF maps? So if you make an urban map, is that now "letting you out of getting SF"? This is sad.

Re: BF2 Xfire Dev Chat Log

They dodged all the hard questions, called mods like cola instead of COKE and admitted that SF was a piece of crap they produced in as quick as possible time to make money. They also said thier testers are doing a good job, and that they know the BF2 engine is not the best they could have done, and that they will do better next time...

Calling mods cola instead of COKE was a big mistake. They just insulted the only reason they have a community. They just insulted me, and everyone who has ever played a mod. They are also lying, they know that mods kick BF42 and BFV's ass, specifically, FH,EOD,GC,DC,POE, etc. Their main inspiration for BF2 was DC. They are lying hypocrites.

The fact that they said, 'we'll do better next time' means a lot of things. It implies there will be another BF game for one thing (or at least more mods). It also implies that they know the BF2 engine is crap! They know it could be sooo much better! Then they go on to describe how everyone has a passion for this piece of crap engine! Gah!

These guys are feeding you people exactly what you need to hear so that you will buy thier next product. That is the only reason they are answering anything, to give the illusion of caring about you.

See through the crap like I do, and understand that you have the real power, you are the one who reads this and goes "Oh boy it can only get better from here, I'll definetely buy they're next game" or you are the one who reads it and understands what they really mean, and why they are saying it.

Don't buy thier crap. Wait for reviews, not overhyped previews.

Couldn't agree with you more Fig, couldn't agree with you more. If anyone EA were passionate about this game...wouldn't it be...I dunno, fixed? (being passionate about the income it brings doesn't count)

Agreed - it was pretty depressing. Oh, and they seem like dicks.

I don't think they were calling mods themselves (such as PoE, FH, etc.) cola instead of Coke. If you reread the quote...

[DICE] PrivateParts: What do you think of mod maps that look like the SF maps that let ppl out of buying SF?
Poeple can drink Cola but everyone knows COKE is the real thing
...they were talking about "mod maps" imitating maps that people bought with SF. I have a feeling the person who asked the question got their terminology wrong, and I assume that they're talking about custom maps. I've never seen any imitation custom maps myself, but I know for sure they can't be talking badly about a mod's maps, since no mods (that I can think of) have come out that contain maps (or even advertise maps that are similar to the expansion pack).

I would agree that its their ass if they talk badly about mods, but I don't think that was the case here. It's always been my impression that Dice cares for the mod scene greatly, although this is also up for debate, I'm sure.

If the person asking the question got their terminology wrong, the DICE guy still seems to be taking a low blow at mods, and then tries to make up for it a comment or two later.

I think this log is great.

There will always be persons like some of you here who take things just too seriously and personal.

These guys are doing a great job with the game, and if you look in the patch changelog you see that they are fixing things You wanted to be fixed.

I admire DICE and the test workers, they are awsome!

BF2 is the game I've searched for years, the only things I got a big problem with is the big demanding of performence, and long loading times. *Cough* Client data *Cough* That's annoying.

They're not fixing a darn thing I want fixed. I want to see the nametag bug fixed, I want to see the spawn points allow me to select them if I have the flag and spawn on them regardless of is some retarded teammate is afk on that spawn point or the enemy is standing on it waiting with C4, I want to see optimization brought to the game engine, I want to see the tracking systems FIXED. (no, they're not fixing them, I'd almost be willing to bet you they'll make a minor adjustment in the missile's .tweak file and call it quits. They'll be fixed when I fire a missile that doesn't decide to defy the laws of physics rather than go straight at the object, that's straight in front of it, that it's supposed to be tracking). I want to see them, for once, use their BRAINS and try to actually fix something, instead of change a few numbers in already written functions in the .tweak files.

All the fixes they're putting up are simply un-thoughtout, cop-out answers to problems in gameplay, while completely ignoring underlying issues in the game or thinking through the effects the tweaks they are making will have on gameplay.

so basically because of lame AZZ nub toobers who refuse to do anything but jump up and down shooting their gp-30's, all the rest of us are going to get screwed with the jump nade fix. it is just too bad that a few lamers can screw up something that many of us have been doing from the time of vanilla BF1942. oh well i guess that we wont be able to throw nades on top of many of the roofs now. Thanks to all you gp-30 bone heads, good job screwing the whole community.

Basically, that's about how it's looking. Easier fix for the noob tubes: Make the jump height reasonable, make jump require sprint, which depletes in 3 jumps, give assault 3 grenades for grenade launcher, increase grenade loading time by another 2 seconds, and give the thing the splash damage as it's real life counterpart. All of that combined (except the last part, which could be left out) would fix the problem. The last part is just me wanting them to die, since a nade that close would kill them. Of course, a fuse on it would be a good replacement to it. Balance isn't hard to come by if you just THINK, instead of making retarded nerfs across the board.

[DICE] Xavos: Are throwing grenades afftected by the removal of shootjumping
You can no longer throw grenades while in the air after a jump
WHY!? Great, thanks to all the noob-tubers for ruining this. This is really useful to get grenades at distant areas, and was used all the time in BF1942. I hope you have increased the 'nade range DICE! Just a little..

Other than that, seems like things are looking up. A lot of work ahead for them though, I just hope they have enough time before EA decides to put them on their next project.

BFTV please, thank you. This was an advertised feature of the original game!

EDIT: Just read the comments abouve me, take notice DICE please.
