Is Special forces Stable enough to buy?

Ok after getting BF2 as soon as it came out and going through the crap of all the bugs and crashes i have held back from buying SF. Even though i have a few issues with t BF2 it is running well now but i decided to wait a bit before i bought SF after hearing of similar problems.

So my question is for those who have special forces is Is it a stable version worth buying or should i just hold off for a bit more. If i go buy SF and have the same trouble BF2 had after its release, ill have a heart attack.

Never had in troubles... and haven't played BF2 vanilla since!! ;-)

Its a great add-on, I haven't had any problems with it... The NVG takes some getting used to but its great fun.

I would recommend buying SF even though it is giving me problems. It doesn't cost much and EA will patch it some time. You get some great new maps, some extra weapon unlocks and extra weapons to unlock. Not to mention some respite from being bombed.

You can have a million people tell you it's great, and a million tell you it's buggy and ****. Unfortanutely we seem to have mapped no pattern with our numerous posts as to what causes the problems.

I've never had any problems, so i'd be inclined to say buy it.

But beware, random CTD and Performance issues strike totally randomly.

Its great i also havent gone back to BF2, i am not a big fan of the night maps but i think thats just somethign you need to get used to

I have absolutely no problems with BF2 vanilla version. Not a single crash ever from the beginning. I don't even have to set a SWAP file in my Windows XP(SP2) for that to run smoothly. I suggest you perform a thorough check on your hardware, router, cable modem and Windows installation. Make sure you have all the anti-spy issues sorted and you get all the way in BF2 without hassle.

I do not see any reason why Special Force doesn't worth the money. It is an add-on, if you have a tight budget you are on to eBay or a second hand. It's a good add-on. One trivial thing is that it is memory demanding. A minimum of 768MB RAM is not sufficient anymore if you are to play it for a few hours non-stop. That is what happens to me. I have to setup a SWAP file now for Special Force to run without any crash. Apart from that with patch 1.12 inplace, Special Force runs admirably without any crash.

SF is great. But I do not refrain from BF2 though. Quite the contrary, I fancy a server hosting both BF2 and SF maps. Whilst many of us are playing like crazy SF, on the BF2 front, buddies are more moderate now. And it seems that over the last few months, buddies are more used to the maps and overpowered vehicles. They know where to find hidings and get themselves well bunkered.

I am particularly fond of Strike at Karkland map. There are choppers ocassionally, but I manage to get my butt saved by constantly running and jumping. There is a server where buddies are Kangaroo players, they use this technique to evade. I don't agree with it, but that's the way you can evade from overpowered tanks, bombers and choppers.

I totally agree. SF was making me extremely angry for awhile, because I was having the aforementioned "random performance issues" on select maps, but if you get these, you kind of just have to accept it and turn some of your settings down. EA may or may not get us a patch, but once you come to terms with the fact that you might have to turn a couple of things down, you'll love the game itself. It's a great expansion.

I get a few desktop crashes, a few bugs and whatnot but SF was well worth the money :)

its only 30 bucks get it, new unlocks, maps etc, no more performance issues than vanilla
