In a special forces ad, You had someone zipp lineing and shooting while doing so. Why cant you have someone in a controled jump off stairs or a controlled jump over a sand bag shot aswell ? Prone jumping is dumb, but not jump shooting.

i think jump shooting is lame...i know BF2 is a arcade game..but come on..try to jump with a Rocket Launcher IRL...its impossible..og try to jump with a M16 and hit targets...nope...think jump shooting should be cut out of the game... -

I can't be bothered to make an account there, but yes, jumping should be allowed, just not prone jumping.Comment

Re: Should jumping and shooting be allowed, VOTE
the problem I have with it is what about those times you know a guy is hiding behind a fence or whatever, so you jump over the fence blazing your gun into their back or whatever. I know this issue is to stop bunny hopping, but getting rid of the feature all together shouldn't happen. What should happen is your accuracy goes out the window when jumping and firing.Comment

They are trying to sort out some tricky problems... but I don't think they are going about it the best way.
Hamfistedly removing the ability to shoot while jumping effects other aspects of play, not just "bunnyhopping". Unless some special code is added, it also mean you will not be able to get the extra loft on thrown items... grenades, medkits, C4, etc. Anyone who says that jumping and throwing is unrealistic... ah... needs to watch some basketball. :p
More to the point, though, is that this will NOT curb bunnyhopping!!
What it will do is train better bunnyhoppers. Now they just have to time their shots for when they hit the ground. They will still bounce around all over the place as a way to make themselves harder to hit.Comment

This is a silly point. I stay on the ground and can fire the whole time or I could jump and fire in short bursts everyonce in a while. What it will do is train better bunnyhoppers.
I really think that this will hurt bunnyhoppers.Comment

Hmmm... While; wait. No. Cmon' bro'. Honestly. No one " Jumps " to gain extra height on grenades in an actual battlefield. I know this game doesn't strive for realism. Yet, this is downright quirky. I can honestly say this wouldn't be missed by many. Heck, I can get grenades in all locations fairly easy and I never jump for a distance bonusOriginally posted by WargimpThey are trying to sort out some tricky problems... but I don't think they are going about it the best way.

Eh. I kinda' agree on this one. The way Dice/EA is going about fixing this issue won't do anything but train "Bunnies with Watches". I can think of two ways to fix hopping:More to the point, though, is that this will NOT curb bunnyhopping!!

1. Every time you jump your weapon spread becomes outrageous (Think M249 while standing). Furthermore. When you hit the ground it should take 2-3 seconds for spread to even began to shrink back to normal. Sighting would still be more accurate an spraying from the hip, but, both would be almost useless for a few seconds.
In terms of C4, and AT, it should take about 2 seconds for your detenator or A-T rocket to come back up. To simulate you having to catch your bearings.
This should also apply to diving to prone. When you dive to prone while moving your spread should be be insane for about a second. Faster than jumping, slower than someone stopping before going prone.
2. Share the stamina bar with Sprinting. Everytime you jump. You lose 1/3rd of your stamina. If your stamina is in the Red. You cannot jump but you can still run for the last couple of bars. Once your stamina is empty. You need to either crouch, or stop moving (Not just running, but MOVING. In otherwords, sit still), for your bar to replenish. Although. The stamina bar needs to fill up quicker. Maybe double the speed currently implemented. So that waiting for your stamina to recharge doesn't become a serious chore.
These two ideas are pretty much the best way to go about fixing the issue. Also, it doesn't ruin any current gameplay. Well. Besides jumping of course.

1. Really good ideas, mcuh better than EAs solution. Still I would reduce accuracy more than you say while jumping. There should be almost no chance of hitting anthing you aim for while jumping. It has to be severe enough to curb jumping in close range fighting if it isn't then bunnyhopping will still be effective in the right situation.Originally posted by {WP}Paas1. 2. Another lot of really good ideas but I think you stamina should recharge slowly while walking around and recharge at twice that rate while stationary. Otherwise it would make infantry more vehicle reliant than they already are if they can't sprint every so often while covering large distances. Also add a half second pause between all jumps.
Your ideas are better than EAs but I am more than happy with what they are choosing to do about the problem. Just as long as they still let you jump and throw ammo, med kits and grenades. Not C4 though, jumping and flinging high explosives around is possible they most unrealistic and stupid thing that people can currently do.Comment

This is what grenades are ACTUALLY used for I.R.L. . . . you'll either, A) kill him, or B) flush him out of cover to wher eyou can shoot him.Originally posted by raceacontarithe problem I have with it is what about those times you know a guy is hiding behind a fence or whatever, so you jump over the fence blazing your gun into their back or whatever. Stop whining. Jump shooting looks absolutely stupid and I'm glad it's taken out. Battles will look and feel much better when there are no bunnyhoppers around + the changes will really help realism mods like Forgotten Hope 2 because now they don't have to remove jump shooting themselves.Originally posted by {WP}Paas

Jump shooting looks lame. It feels lame.
Plus, even if it were fixed so that the accuracy cumulatively worsened as the sprint bar depleted a problem would still exist. You would still face those who survive their own point blank m203s while at the same time kill off their target(s).T he same goes for AT SRAW/Eryx who jump and fire point blank and for c4 chucking.
This seems like the easiest route to get those results quick, and I have no problems with that, in this case.
It's good that dolphin diving combined with shooting is going away also. Sometimes I'm reminded of cherubs from Doom3 when I see this up close.

You'll know what I mean if you've played this game.
Here's a clip of one DD from BF2 in action for those of you who have been living under a rock.
I'm for what was stated about the upcoming patch.
Cut the problem off now. Fine tweak later if needed.Comment
