    Re: Light Machineguns.

Well, if you improve the accuracy of the LMG, you could run into the problem that some people thought BFV had: that you end up with a fully automatic, 100 round sniper rifle. Yes, they are that way in real life, but how would that affect the game's balance?

As always, there must be a trade-off between realism and fair gameplay.

MG's only become inaccurate when fired continuously, like when used in a suppression situation. And again, this is counteracted somewhat by deploying the mg using a bipod.

In real life, a squad of exposed troops running in front of a deployed mg are dead meat, chewed up by (relatively) accurate and continuous fire. In BF2, you're lucky to knock out two troops before the rest of the squad rape you, even with the PKM.
I agree, but if they made the LMGs like they were in America's Army, it would kinda be overpowering.

AA is actually the game that had me thinking about gun weight, I sucked with the rifles but I got the SAW finally and it was easy as hell to kill people from long range and in small rooms, it was stupid how you can swing the SAW around just as fast as the M16 or AK which is why these games need to give the bigger guns "weight" so that an RPK doesn't beat a M16 in close quarters.

Yeah, I've once had some Special Forces guy go prone 3 feet away from me when I was prone with my PKM and kill me, even though I shot about 10 rounds in his direction before he even went prone. I definitely think they should be much more accurate, but to be sure they dont dominate, they should have extreme recoil while standing or crouching to balance the game out more.

Ya, happens to me all the time, in CQC if ur not holding the MG36, type 95, or the SAW, ur pretty much dead. THe pKM shoots round WAY too slow, so it's very hard to kill people at close range. THe SAW is great at close range, but then again, it's extremely inaccurate at all other distances. Anyways, yeah, i agree AA was very accurate in gun physics, but after all, it is MADE by the military forces. In AA EVERY gun has breathing, so u can't just aim and fire, u have to wait for a decent shot, unlike in BF2.

Not neccesarily. One possible system is this: Lighter weapons have better accuracy while turning and coming out of a turn, but heavier weapons have to "settle" while coming out of a turn. I believe Rogue Spear had a similar system.

And gun weight can still be factored in without that system. Draw time, and CS's infamous "run faster with a knife" system are examples.

Bipod code would be simply orgasmic, but there's no way in hell EA would patch that in. Maybe you could say that firing standing and crouching is innacurate because it's unsupported, and prone automatically accounts for the bipod. (still, ridiculously innacurate)

                  Re: Light Machineguns.

You guys all need a dose of PRMM.

                  M249>Every other gun.

and about bipods, your right that EA will never put that in, but its so simple its easy.
you just make a fire mode that has the bipod out, and a firemode with the bipod in.

bipod out = less accurate while standing and crouched, more accurate prone
bipod in = more accurate standing, crouched, less accurate prone.

                    Re: Light Machineguns.

Just finished up my 15 hour stint with support, splitting the time between the PKM and MG36. The MG36 is pretty accurate at medium to long range, I was able to score alot more kills than with the PKM. What I missed thought was the stopping power of the PKM, at close range it puts people down fast, where the MG36 takes that 1 more bullet.

It's a trade off I guess. I think with the patch we are going to see alot of crying, if they give the PKM the accuracy of the MG36 or make the MG36 even better its going to be sick.

ah yeah I remember that now, the only problem was that Rouge Spear didn't have open sight aiming it was just the game recticule blooming in and out to represent accuracy. Actually a combination of the weapon having to settle after a turn and (in the case of a LMG) the weapon having to be "lugged around" to sweep it due to its weight would be pretty realistic.

oh yeah...Fig, I've seen alot of pictures/videos of US military SAW gunners aiming their weapon from standing by gripping one of the bipod legs and I guess using that to push the SAW into their shoulder, anyone know if that's how they teach them in training or is that just convenient for them?

I just rediscovered the support class so I like the idea of increasing lgm's accuracy a lot. but in sf i find the lgm very useful. the pkm and the new g36 something the brits have are good weapons already.

The MG36 has a higher rate of fire, so that justifies it.

LOL. All these possible changes no longer make BF2, "The BF2".
