No CD patch

Just a quick one, is there a patch or a program or anything available to make BF2 run without the CD/DVD in the drive? I have a fully legit copy and it's all properly registered etc but my disk is getting more and more scratched because i live in a shared house and eveyone uses my machine and seem to be unable to put the disk in the box.

I know this is getting into slightly dubious waters of cracked/copied games so if you don't want to post links or make this public then please PM me because it would be a great deal of help to me.

Google > Game Copy World > Battlefield 2 > Mini-Image by bleh!.

Recommended by Talus. Works like a charm. And yes Daemon tools 4 is required, don't use alcohol.

Yay! Thanks, ive been looking for this, i prefer to **** all games i own, Then i can play whatever game i want whenever i want without having to be all cd'ing...

I would like ***** also, but im really confused on how to put the files in etc...could someone post a guide or link me to something?

EDIT: Do i just put the files from the no DVD patch from gamecopyworld into mycomputer > program files > ea games > bf2?

No, you place them anywhere, and then mount them to a virtual drive using Deamon tools 4.0

Ok i got two images, one is .mdf and one .mds is there a difference which one i mount? Do i mount both?

the mds is the link to the mdf file, you can't mount mdf files, only mds that is.

Its the same rules as

.bin = .mdf
.cue = .mds

ok, i have got deamon tools and a ligit copy of bf2. i also have a .rar file from gamecopyworld. but wat do i do. i mount the .rar file but wat then?

extract the rar file with winrar (pick a language) and mount the files that came from inside, then just run the bf2 icon on your desktop

ok i have the .mdf and .mds. i used deamon to mount them but they still dont work. i used alchohole to get the image. is this the problem?

OK.

**** - A copy of the games exe (ie BF2.exe), only without the CD protection.

Uses:
1. To crack a game youve downloaded and dont own the original CD. Makes the game think you have a legit CD in your drive.
2. Not as common as the first one, but in case you DID buy the game and just lost the CD / don't wanna use it, get a ****. (BTW that's the cover of the cracking teams, nvm)

easier than a Mini-image, but illegal, won't let you connect to servers which verify your data since you need to replace some original files to make the game work.

Mini-image - It is the perfect solution for ppl who don't want to use their CD.
It's legal, no need to replace any files.

Uses:
1. By it's name - Image - (don't really know how technically it's done) somehow makes a copy of the vital files (?) of the original CD, it functions as a CD in your drive only it's a file on your HD.
Perfect if you lost your CD or don't wanna use it.
2. In some rare cases, it is used to bypass some serious CD protections such as Starforce, which cannot be cracked or bypassed by a **** crack. Not very common.


**** CRACK
Advantages:

1. Easier to use than the Minimage
2. More easy to find on web
3. It works in the things it is purposed to work with

Disadvantages:

1. Illegal most of the times.
2. Prevents you from playin online in most of the games today.
3. Requires replacement of the original files.


MINI-IMAGE
Advantages:

1. Legal
2. No risks in using it - You do not need to replace anything
3. Works fine with anything, won't get you banned or something

Disadvantages:

1. A little hard to use
2. You need 3rd party software such as Daemon Tools, or Alcohol
3. Less common than the **** on web, but can be found almost for anything in Gamecopyworld.com



INSTRUCTIONS

1. Download the rar file from here:

2. [this stage is to make the use of it more convenient] If you do not have one already, make a folder named BF2 (or whatever you like) in the place your BF2 shortcut you always use is, and put the shortcut in it.

3. Extract the MDF file and the MDS with Winrar:

Into the folder mentioned above.

4. Download Daemon tools:

Install
run
Right click on the red icon in the taskbar
Virtual CD/DVD ROM
Set number of devices
1

...Wait...

Left click on the icon in the taskbar
Left click on Device 0
Browse to the MDS file and double click on it

...Wait...

Close DT
*Note: the virtual drive still works, only the daemon tools process will not appear. For extra safety always do it before running BF2

5. Eject your BF2 disk

6. PLAY!


*NOTE: this MI works for SF as well.
