Wow. They might as well be playing a game where a white screen has a pink square that randomly appears and they get more points for clicking it the quickest... how ridiculous is it that the CAL players, those who are supposed to be all about superiour tactics and teamwork actually seem to just be loving thier 'twitch' gaming.

It seems most CAL members that hold this opinion ^ arn't really interested in tactics, just practicing thier twitching. Know that those who think they are elite in the BF2 gaming community are those that twitch the fastest... pathetic.

Re: 1.2 Poll, Yay, or nay?

Seriously... is there really a problem with people being able to jump and shoot?

        I think not.

There IS however a problem with people being able to continously jump, regaurdless if they are shooting or not.

I've never seen anyone call for a nerfing of attack helocopters. EVER!
By weaking their armour AND reducing their dumbfire missiles, they are simply weaking one of the better aspects of the game.

Simply fixing missile tracking will NOT prevent issues with lag induced problems. A big chunk of the real problem is that missiles move fast, so do planes. When you have two highspeed objects trying to intercept eachother, it becomes a VERY lag sensitive issue.

The only people I see compaining about sniper accuracy are snipers. At the same time, I see those very same snipers wracking up fairly serious kill counts.

I simply don't see how this patch is going to help.
In fact, it looks like it's going to make matters worse overall.

Re: 1.2 Poll, Yay, or nay?

I'm for not shooting while jumping on realism grounds, and on immersive grounds. It just feels so freaking fake when it happens, its stupid.

I'm not for nerfing attack helo missles, again on realism, and on gameplay grounds. Helis need to be better at long range assaults, as they are fairly weak and slow.

I am for weakining aircraft in general, they are simply able to absorb to much fire before goign down. Weakining aircraft shifts tactics slightly to make it a bit harder for aircraft to be SOOO dominant. I tink this is a simple fix than trying to make the AA better, as you said, it would make too much lag.

            Its 50/50.

Nothing wrong with the G3, nor the TV missles, I haven't heard anyone complain about them being bad.

Noob tube needs to fired like tear gas.

Some good changes, some left out, some uneccasry.

A bit pessimistic, are we? :) Now that you mention it, maybe the patch could spoil things, but I'm really only interested in infantry combat so it will probably make my life better.

To me, aircraft are just vermin, they're annoying. They ruin my fun when I'm trying all hard to capture some important flag with a cooperative squad and some stupid ass blackhawk just shreds us up like swiss cheese in a matter of nanoseconds[/hate]

Sketchy on the G3 improvement.. What needs improving? The damn thing murders people at close up, pinpoint accuracy is frightening.

Most of the changes are a start in the right direction. I'd prefer shooting & jumping but have it super inaccurate (ie with GL).

What is the "sprint exploit?" And my opinion on this patch is currently null because I can't download it yet but, not being able to sprint-jump-toss grenades is gay, noob toobers won't be able to jump for better accuracy to shoot their shiat. WILL THIS MEAN WE CAN'T THROW OUR C4 IN MID-AIR?! OH GOD NO NO NO!!! *shakiness* Well, there's also the higher accuracy for support weapons which is a thumbs up to get more people giving out damn ammo pax. AA missiles will never hit their targets unless you believe it won't. Anti-tank kits adjust for accuracy? Hurrah! I think... Overall, WHY IS IT CALLED 1.2? I THOUGHT WE ALREADY HAD 1.3!

I've preformed jump shot while playing paintball. I've even hit my target doing it. I don't see how it's unrealistic to be able to pull the trigger after jumping.
It IS unrealistic (and more importantly, destructive to game play) to be able to do this constantly without ever needing to stop to rest.

This is exactly right. Attack helos are standoff weapons. They are designed to be able to sneak into an area and bingo targets from a loooooong way off.

From gameplay terms, I can't see how reducing the dumbfire missiles will help anything. I'm a fairly good chopper pilot and can generally take out a tank with 4 to 6 shots. A less practiced pilot will not be able to kill a tank with only an 8 round payload... This means they aren't going to try. That leads to people like me getting to use choppers more, which in turn leads to more unhappy armour drivers because the attack helo pilots will be skilled!

It also hurts chopper to chopper dogfights. Man, it's HARD to take down an opposing chopper with 12 rockets!

Don't forget that they admited that AA is improvable. They tried to fix it, thus there is room for improvement! As I mentioned, there are other ways to fix problems that trying to work out complex intercepts. There's a reason that most AA missiles really do use proximity detonated fragmentation warheads.

                      That's realist.
We have a "the glass is twice as big as it needs to be" situation here.

I'm all about the overall game play. It should be FUN to be a ground pounder, it should be FUN to fly planes, it should be FUN to pilot and crew choppers. Nothing should be able to dominate without opposition (the current problem is that planes do under 1.12). Repaired and tweeked AA should put a stop to that.
Sketchy on the G3 improvement.. What needs improving? The damn thing murders people at close up, pinpoint accuracy is frightening.
I'm with ya here. I already do some perty good damage with the G3. Maybe they mean they intend to add more ammo. That could be a good thing. No 'nade launcher is a hefty drawback (espcially compaired to the F2000). More ammo would make it a more viable weapon.

Yes, when it concerns the noob toob there is a problem, same with c4, especially since that BS macro has been going around.
Im going to miss being able to jump over sandbags and plugging the guy on the other side, or shooting AT missles over a wall, but i will adapt. Dice can only do -so- much good. We dont want the sky to fall now do we?

And strengthening another aspect of the game, and hey, maybe tanks on the open maps will last longer then 2 minutes after this patch? . It worked in Desert Combat and it worked in BF:V, planefairies will still rule this game, dont worry.

Hard targets will still be helicopter food since they cant move very fast nor can they take cover easily. Weakening helicopers will only reduce their "loitering" time over targets, meaning hanging over spawns with the gattling cannon shredding everything is going to become much more rare, like it should be.

I'm personally in huge support of this Update. Granted, with PRMM in the works I could care less if EA gets realism correct or not. But! It seems like they are taking a realistic step interms of infantry.

As for the Attack Helos. I don't understand messing with those? Never heard a complaint about em'.

As for everything else. I support it. I mean, I can understand not wanting to be realistic, but, the arcadey nature of Vanilla so far was kinda' ruining the feel of Tactical Combat. It kinda' turned into UT2004 when you got into CQB situations.

I never ever liked CAL league. I played counter strike for 6 years. It was actually the first online game i have ever played if i remember it correctly. I remember the days where you could kill 5 guys at the same time if they were lined up one after another with awp, anways that's not the point. Point is, most of the CAL league consists of young people, usually at the age of 14-18, who in their inexperienced online gaming years, think that playing in a league and winning matches are the most important things in their lives. This is the way it is. I have been there, most people in this forum who are older than 25 will agree with me. We all have been there. Now what we think "whining" is not what those people think and this is totally normal. that's why i always defended the idea that CSS is more like for younger players in which you can basically win the round just by yourself against the enemy where BF2 is more like for older people in which the team play, responsibilities, squad play, following orders, being organized and prepared are very important.

This all whining and complaints usually come from the people that used to play CSS who used to basically own the opposing force if they practiced a lot, but who are basically getting owned in BF2 because they are not used to carry responsibilities or follow orders therefore try to engage enemy on a 1 v 1 basis and fail. They are expecting the same performance they had in CAL league and CSS but they are sadly mistaken.

The point is, don't worry about what CAL says. CAL is for counter strike. The people who play in CAL league in different games are 90% of the time came from Counter strike or counter strike source. That's how they define online gaming and they will never be fully satisfied with BF2 no matter what DICE does.

And in my personal opinion, for people who say "i am gonna quit BF2, its not fun and acceptable without shooting whilst jumping", i can say one thing, i'd rather have 2000 people playing this game who doesn't have that attitude than having 1,000,000 people playing this game who bunnyhop.

Try performing a jump shot with an L85 or L1A1 SLR (similar to G3) after you've walked or crawled a distance whilst wearing full combat webbing, kevlar helmet, and heavy boots. You probably wouldn't jump very high and it's unlikely you'd hit anything worthwhile...
The jumping through the air and firing shenanigans is total BS and I'm looking forward to it being gone.

It IS unrealistic (and more importantly, destructive to game play) to be able to do this constantly without ever needing to stop to rest.
                              Ditto.

Has anyone discovered how far the range will be reduced? It may be insignificant. There's no point in crying until we see the data.

From gameplay terms, I can't see how reducing the dumbfire missiles will help anything. You may see more skilled pilots using the helos, however the likely scenario is we will see more less skilled pilots being killed more often.

It also hurts chopper to chopper dogfights. Man, it's HARD to take down an opposing chopper with 12 rockets!
If helo armour is reduced, helo vs helo cannon will be rather more effective than now, so you won't need to use rockets.

Don't forget that they admited that AA is improvable. They tried to fix it, thus there is room for improvement! In my experience as a frequent flyer, and in air defence, missiles often hit the jets just fine, unfortunately the missiles don't do enough damage. Increasing the overall vulnerability of jets is a fine solution.
The coming changes will improve this situation (at least for the ground pounders). Jets will also be far more vulnerable to small arms, hmg and AAA cannon. This suits me fine. Flying in BF2 is *too* easy.

I disagree that the fun factor will decrease signficantly. The vast majority of players are ground pounders. Those who like to fly will have to learn some new tricks, that's all.
