Re: How much RAM for BF2? - Review!
512 ram is definitely not enough...
My box have 1GB of ram and a 6800,
But because it uses 1.12 GB of ram when I put settings in high, my HD was spinning crazy and I was laggin every 5 sec...
Which ended up I have to lower the graphic quality.......
going to buy another stick of 1GB in Christmas, and a Joystick (Flying anything w/ keyboard is terrible)... -

Ya I upgraded from 1gb to 2gb about a year ago and I can't tell you the difference it made. Shorter load times, smoother play.
Dual channel makes quite a difference too:

You can simply pull out your ram stick and try it

Mine is a geil ramOriginally posted by fate0521I got the 1x1024 in that and it sucks for overclocking just to let you know. Otherwise it's good stuff
Don't ever buy it, not recommended!!!!
And my mobo doesn't support Overclocking.....
Even tho I have the CPU that's best for overclocking A64 3000+ :cry:Comment

Ditto. Nasty shutter when a map first loads though.Originally posted by PBAsydney512, medium settings, smooth gameplay...
I can't say I really understand the point of the "If you run the game higher than your computer can handle, your frame rate suffers." stuff. I mean, duh?Comment

Re: How much RAM for BF2? - Review!
I had a 1G and really had intermittent stuttering even at medium settings. However, I went up to 2G and it has only stuttered once when I tabbed in an dout of the game, so that doesn't really count. On top of that, I was able to boost my settings for the normal game. . . for SF, I still have to play a little lower, especially on the aircraft carrier level, or I get low FPS.
But yeah, that extra G helped me a lot.Comment

Re: How much RAM for BF2? - Review!
768 MB on med-high graphics settings runs quite smoothly for me. The only hassle is it takes a long time to load the maps... but once in in the game, no problems. And I have a pretty mediocre system (Athlon 2200+ cpu, ATI x800 XL vid card) .
I wonder if people having problems are running a lot of background apps while playing?
Obviously, if I wanted to run at the highest graphics settings, I couldn't do it, but I don't understand the "need 1-2 GB RAM" thing. You don't need it for BF2.Comment
