I'm pretty sure it has to do with the monitor now that I know it's an LCD I've heard people having ALL sorts of problems with LCD monitors and resolutions and refresh rates. Do you know what your monitor's native resolution is?

Have you tried forcing your resolution using the command line parameters?:

+szx <width> +szy <height>

You could prove me wrong by plugging in a CRT monitor and seeing if the problem persists...

how do you find your moniters native resoloution?
I run the game at 800*600
but my desktop is at 1280*1024
i cant stand my moniter being on 800*600 for everyday use.

Well, what make and model is your monitor? Should be easy enough to find.

But it should be 1280x1024 if that's what your desktop is set at.

So...try adding this to the end of your BF2 icon command line properties:

 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

DO you happen to have a CRT monitor lying around? If so, plug it in and see if the problem goes away.

the resoloution is set as high as it can go on the slider thingy (eh?)
whats the "BF2 icon command line properties"?

Right click on your 'Play Battlefield 2' icon on your desktop.

Select 'Properties'

In the 'Target' box, add the code above to the END of what is already there.
e.g. "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

Hit 'ok'.

In the meantime, I'll see what else I can dig up on this type of problem with LCD monitors...at least until somebody who actually HAS the answer shows up

no different. the game still crashes.
does doing what you said not decrease the performance as the game is running at a higher resoloution?

Hey, did you recently UPGRADE to an LCD monitor???

Most of the problems my searches turned up had to do with going from CRT to LCD and refresh rate settings.

And yes, increasing the resolution WILL impact performance. So set it back to whatever resolution you were playing at before for best performance and remove the changes you made to the BF2 desktop icon.

no the game was running fine, until i got special forces then the problem started to happen about a week after buying that. If i uninstall SF i cant seem to enter a game as it says the server does not allow modified content
, even though i havent changed anything.

Well, it may be time for you to do a complete re-install.

Uninstall SF
Uninstall BF2
Delete My Documents\Battlefield 2

Istall BF2
Install SF
Install v1.12 patch

It's a pain in the butt, but re-installing tends to help a LOT of people with problems like this.
