    Landing the attack chopper...

Well, I have been improving my heli pilot skills...
I managed to land it where I want it to land at last =P

However, landing is still a problem since I can only do it if the spot where I need to land is still a little far from me,
so I can slow down the heli and do it. But if it's right below me, I just can't do it!!! Can anyone help me?

And also, the last time I played Sharqi I was MEC and went to the TV station and stole the AH-1Z... I need repairs,
but the Helipad was filled with teamates, hopping and waiting for the Mi-28. I thought that I would kill them if I landed the
way I am used to land it ("horizontal" landing), so I tried to use "vertical" landing (hover and go down)... But even so,
I killed them all!!! My score went to -22 and I saw several "You were punished for a teamkill" messages.. Guess what happens next =[

How could I land the heli without killing them?

    Many thanks =]

Why land it when you can just hover low around the helipad to rearm/repair

Don't land it at all only N00bies land the chopper to repair .. Your easy to kill when you land by everything basicall .. spec ops will c4 you when you land to, so my advice don't land just hover above the helo pad .. You'll be more maneuvrable <<--is that a word ?? well you geet the point:p

I can go from full speed and stop above a helipad before landing. Tilt backwards and hold forward to bring it to a halt and then press down or hold it neutral while stabilizing above the pad. Center your heli crosshair on the horizon line on the HUD and remember that your view is at the front of the heli so make sure you don't crash your tail into trees or buildings.

You don't have to touch the ground to repair or pick people up mind, you can actually jump and enter a heli that's hovering 4-5 metres off the ground, far higher than it looks like you could :)

exactly what he said but try changing your view as well press f9 when in the heli and you get a clear unblocked view

thanks for the tips... I guess I'll have to keep practicising

repairing a chopper in mid air is sooo unrealistic =[

lol, so is reloading bombs on a jet by flying over a runway, but thats why its called an arcade style game :P

But yeah, all my repair work is done by hover, and while you're there, turn the helo to face the 'action' so that the other helo doesn't come along for a free kill...

Just practice in single player mode or on an empty server.

It takes way too long to 'hover down'...simply fly in toward the helipad in a slow descent and when you're close, pull back on the stick and let down on the throttle and then bring the throttle to the middle when you're level and hovering above the helipad.

Exactly like that. Hovering to come down to lets go and pick up someone off the helipad or the ground is way to risky and takes ages, zoom down, lift your nose up and land.

My point exactly. I never, ever land the heli ever. There is no need to land the heli simply hover over the pad to repair or hover over flags to take them.

If you must land for some reason its easy to do. When you are coming in to land pull the nose back till it stops and is about to go backwards then level the heli off then simply descend. By doing this you can go straight down quite easily.

Just hover, especially if there's 238472534 people waiting for the helo, less risk of some moron sticking C4 to you because he doesn't have a chopper. Or play engineer and land anywhere, jump out, and fix the chopper yourself.

Another nifty thing, find a supply crate and hover above it. Usually, especially as MEC, you'll find them around the arty.

                            Re: Landing the attack chopper...

What they said is right, I dont usually fly a chopper but when I am a sniper I like to camp out close to the enemy chopper pad and snipe it. Here are a few things that will help keep your attack chopper in the action, and safe from people like me.

I would do a 360 before I get to the level that repair starts working, make your turn pretty quick. Do this to identify any easily seen enemy forces i.e. Armor. Also if you are on the ground and the attack chopper is repairing near by use the spot function, spot everything, to help the chopper guys stay alive, you might see something that they dont.

I usually kill chopper pilots when they come in for repair, and as the repair is taking place they are doing a slow spin. I believe that they are looking for the enemy, but what they are really doing is helping me, as a sniper, to line up my shot. Any sniper can tell you that you cant shoot the pilot from the rear of the chopper so when they do a slow spin it makes that shot a lot easier, and it is better if you dont hold perfectly still, let the chopper move up and down slightly. Again this movement makes it harder for a sniper to line up a shot. Just a few observations from a guy who likes to kill the people who are hardest to kill.....Red

Oh, I thought of one more thing the transport chopper, blackhawk if you are a marine, usually has an engineer on board and any vehicle can be repaired by getting close to a vehicle with an engineer on board.
