    suicides

Do u ever commit suicide for the good of your team ?

I do it all the time as I play spec ops and if theres a tank whoring a spawn point I just run up and plant c4 and then blow myself up in the process as its often difficult to get far enough away and press the trigger before the tank sees me and blows me up.

    Re: suicides

I occassionally do, but only when necessary. Its a better idea to plant the c4 on the tank/apc and walk backwards away from it. This way I can detonate if their guns start turning towards me, but more often then not I can get away.

Just as a btw, I've found that suiciding is generally frowned upon by players, so I wouldn't do it unless absolutely necessary.

I see guys do that all the time, and I think it's lame. People not being afarid to die is what's causing all the *** in online play. The only time i'll suicide is if I'm defending a flag with my squad, and my SL tells me there's an incoming Tank, and I Should go AT.

Don't go start putting false notions in the boy's' head. :p No one cares much less even knows when a person commits suicide. (And if they are that busy watching the kill messages, then who cares what they think since they obviously aren't watching your back like they should.)

To the OP, yeah, I have, too, on occasion, but usually for more noble causes than yours. For instance, my squad is behind enemy lines with tanks and APCs rolling in, but the AT guy(s) are out of ammo, so I'll suicide and come back as Support. That sort of thing.

I do the plant-C4/die thing all the time, but I don't consider that suicide. It's just taking out the armor that is racking up all your team's tickets before he can take you out. :)

It would probably make sense for the devs to make a penalty against suicide. But I still will do it, just so I don't give the enemy the honor of killing me.

They did. I think it's -2 for your team score. (Not sure.) Just suicide in single player as soon as the map starts, and you'll see you have a negative score.

When I die I always look at the kill message, and when I see something like

Actually, looking at the kill messages is essential to keeping your squaddies safe. If you guys are sneaking up on a flag, and two of you go around a corner while a few stay back, you have to read the kill messages to see what happened, and how you should react. SomethingOrOther [LAV] Hero, wouldnt send a medic around the corner to try and revive, now would it.

becoming a martyr can be honoriable, especially to get rid of a tank in a capturable base. I do it whe its needed, and when i got my bassic explosives badge. the easiest way to get it is c4 charges on a jeep.

                        Re: suicides

I blow myself up quite often in the process of c4ing a tank. I don't really do it on purpose, but sometimes it get's very hectic, and I overestimate my distance to the tank that I previously "prepaired". This usually only happens if either the tanker/MG gunner saw me, or some other enemy infantry is trying to keep me from blowing up the tank.
Btw. I have already saved many tanks because the specop was too "proud" of detonating right away, but rather chose to flee for cover - were a load of lead was already impatienly waiting for him...
It also depends on how good the driver is. If I know he's a very well trained tank whore that constantly gets a k/D ratio of 10:1 I'll probably not take the risk of waiting to detonate until I'm within safe distance. I'll take one for the team, and hope that some boon is going to "steal" his tank after it respawns

                            Re: suicides

Sometimes I find it necessary to sacrifice myself in order to get rid of a piece of armor. Example: I was placing C4 on the back of a tank on Karkand and suddenly the APC comes up right next to him. Some how he doesn't see me, but they're like side-by-side and I know that if I move I'll be seen. So I just detonate it, kill both pieces of armor, as well as myself.

It was just a smarter move for the team. Besides, I still went up in score by 2 :p

As a protectionist of the good old cannon fodder infantry man I had to grin about this comment
However, I am not a successfull tank driver because I am too greedy. I usually get c4'd in the process of capping flags...
There are some exceptional tank drivers out there that work for their team, and not for their own points sake. You'll now that he is a good tanker when he sticks to his ground troops, and protects them well from other tanks and APCs.
