my opinions on each of these weapons are:
(as a preface, being overrated is not the same as being a good or bad weapon, it is a whole different beast. perception is key.)
G36C- good weapon, but probably somewhat overrated. I agree that some people think it aim better than most anything, but its accuracy isn't that great. it does have great accuracy, but not the incredible accuracy people ascribe to it.
L85-worse than the 3 basic assault rifles. it is extremely weak in comparison, and with the other weapons you can snipe, but not as well. one of the most overrated weapons mainly because 2/3 of medics ran around with it before SF and the G36E
DAO- it has a lot more range than you expect, and pistolwhippage is always a decent option. it's not preferable, but when you can kill EVERYONE near you, you just have to know when and when not to use it.
F2000- is the best weapon. it deserves its high rating because it is a better sniper rifle than the L85 and it is pretty close to the SVD and the type 88 just because the f2k does so much damage with each shot. sure it's not great when shooting in close quarters, but that's what the nade launcher's for. it's like a G3 with its deadly single shot, but it has the nade launcher too!!! it is probably a little overrated just because people rate it so astronomically high.
PKM- I think it has awesome accuracy for a LMG. you just have to keep shooting, but if you hit things, they'll go down FAST. it just takes a while to get a bead on people sometimes. for this reason it is a little overrated, but not much.
G36E- also an amazing weapon, but I agree with you in that it isn't as good as some people say, and a ton of medics use it now. in this respect I think it is overrated because it is not as good as the ak-47 and it is about as good as the ak-101. for this reason it is overrated a good deal.
AK-101- I think I personally overrate this baby a good deal, but I love it in close quarters. Most people underrate this weapon, and that is why so many people say that it is awesome. us ak-101 lovers are just trying to convince the rest of you that you're all fools.
before sf, the most overrated was definitely the the L85, but now that nobody uses it anymore (see G36E), the most overrated weapon is eaither the G36E or the F2000. this is not to say that these guns aren't awesome because they are, but rather that people overvalue them in their worship of the two guns. if I had to choose one I would say the G36E, but that's just because I'm an ak lover and a medic at heart :p.
Regarding my vote in the "other" category: it seems to me that the new SCAR-H/L is receiving more praise than it deserves. Sure, it's a good gun but it ain't really any better than the other weapons in its category. Maybe it's the name...

SCAR-H is amazing - SCAR-L is an M4 but with worse ranged performance and better performance in close. The former SCAR is worthy of praise, the latter not so much.

Yeah, the SCAR-H is simply overpowering, low recoil for bursting/spraying, good accuracy for single shot at med-long range, and a good trusty scope. The SCAR-L on the other hand, is less accurate than the G36C, and probably less than teh M4 too. The only good thing is it's max deviation cone is smaller than all the other ones.

Its really not all that accurate and no you CANT outsnipe snipers with that gun. At least not competent snipers actually shooting at YOU!

Seriously, the SCAR-L isn't an accurate gun, the G36C is EASILY more accurate, it may be good in CQC as it sprays better with it's low max dev cone. Anyways no, i don't think that you're trying to **** me off when u say u like the G36E. THe G36E is one of my favorite guns, and imo one of the best.

Yeah, my term for the G36E, a M16A2 on steroids lol. It does more damage, and has better accuracy, and is equal in all other ways to the M16.
I did think the g3 was the best gun ,its clear the g36 is more accurate but power is important too .My best gun has been the the Ak-101 lately,nice sound very accurate 30 round mag and can go medic or assault class .I just hate the 3 shot bursts of a m16:cry:
Um, this is not a "best" gun thread, this is most overrated. Overrated as in meaning, people say it's SOOOOO good on this forum, but when you actulaly use it, it's not NEARLY as great as mentioned.
im gonna have to agree with most about the F2000. Its gotta be that scope. Just stick it on semi-auto and give short bursts...that thing is so accurate and at the same time powerfull enough to deal damage at a close range.
I also have to remark on the other unlocks I have.
1) G36C: Better than some people give it credit for, worse than others. It tends to be my default weapon when playing SF or even BF2 vanilla for the most part. Its fairly accurate at medium-long distances and quick-to-get-the-job done at close range.
2)L85: I'm going to have to give a thumb and a half up for this one. I think it would be two had the game not made it out to be super accurate. Although it is no more accurate than any other weapon, stick it in single fire mode and a few shots'll take anyone out if hit the right spot. Good medic gun.
3)G3: Why can't I supersize my magazine? A very dominating assault rifle at close distance but you better make sure you have a full round of ammo if you want to get out of a fight alive. Not enough ammo/mag, not enough ammo/gun.

I voted for the L85. I don't care what anyone says; I find this rifle to be complete trash. The M16 (and now G36E) are more accurate, and all of the stock asssault rifles have a better deviation-added-per-shot value. The only times I ever use the L85A1 are when I need the scope that bad (in situations where I may not be able to see the target otherwise). But these situations are very rare.
