Applying 'Creative X-Fi' setting crashes to desktop

Ok...now it's MY turn to ask for a little help

My new Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic card arrived today.

I removed all traces of my old Audigy beforehand. Installed from the original X-Fi disc and then updated with the latest X-Fi drivers from Creative's web site.

When I load up BF2 and enter the Audio options section and select 'Creative X-Fi' and then hit 'Apply', it crashes to desktop every single time.

I am already in 'Game Mode'.

Anybody figure this one out? I thought the latest X-Fi drivers were supposed to fix this...

Try the latest drivers, that worked for me and I had the same problem.

I didn't think I had to remove the old ones first when it came to audio drivers...

Nope..that didn't work.

Time to start re-installing ... oi what a pain :cry:

Did you remove both of them? then reinstall the latest one? If you did then time to reinstall, I had to reinstall every 3 days for some time! lol because of my HDD and cheap MOBO.

Did you remove your old X-Fi drivers using Device Manager or Add/Remove Programs?

Anyway, I'm going to head to bed and try again tomorrow...it's about time for me to do a complete re-format anyway..so I might just opt for that

This is a pain in the balls but here it is:

Update your drivers.

Clear the cache file.

Start BF2, select X-Fi, then HIGH for settings. Hit apply. Exit BF2.

Clear Cache again.

Start BF2, Select X-Fi, then ULTRA HIGH. Hit apply.

It should save.
