Getting a "Terrible" 3dmark score - surprised

I got a score of 7650 - my system includes

AMD 4400 processor (2.2 GHz)
MSI nVidia 7800 GTX 256 (running at 450 MHz)
1 Gig Ram
120 GB Sata II Drive
250 GB Sata Backup Drive
No tweaks or O.C.
Abit Fatal1ty Motherboard
Antec True Power Powersupply (550 Watt)

I see people with the same specs on futurejmark (1 Gig Ram) and they are getting over 10,000+ without tweaking or OCing their systems. What's going on? What other factors influence this score? The computer is brand new and has nothing on it besides Windows Professional and Drivers. Can I achieve a similar score without Tweaks or OCs? Or are computers more than just the sum of its parts?

you have 1GB it enough but 2Gb will up your score
i on 6800 had 5800 score with 1gb
and 6740 with 2Gb

I know that's a great intermediate solution but was wondering why some people are getting 10,000+ with same specs with only 1 gb of ram.

its surely depend on parts you use
every company have different specs on similar parts
envoirment is playing role too.

Sorry dude you don't know what your talking about. 2GB will lower your 3dMark Score.

As for the OPs score, 10,000 is next to impossible with a single card, and is impossible for a non overclocked card. The scores you are looking at has to be for SLI setups. Your score seems about average for stock settings.

Or you may be looking at 3dMark03 scores as opposed to 3dMark05.

Ah jimmy - it's the guy with the awesome sig! Thanks for you input. Another question for you would be: would 2 120 gig SATA II drives Raid 0 (7200 can't get a 10000 right now), also raise that score?

You seem to have a pretty kick ass system - what score are you getting?

No hard drive speeds have next to nothing to do with your score. My score is at the bottom of my sig.

I average around 6,800. I put more faith into Special Forces as a benchmark right now though. If you rapid click your right mouse key to go in and out of zoom, you'll get an idea of what peak activity will look like with your FPS.

Why does having 2gb of ram make your score lower? I'll test that out tomorrow (the whole futuremark test is too slow for me to do it a second time tonight). Also, does the paid version of 3DMARK05 give a different score? I know that you can run different benchmarks but in order for the scoring system to work it has to run the same exact test for everyone. So, what's the difference when it comes to your score?

Paid version will give you a lower score if you enable all the benchmarks. As for the 2GB, I'll try to find an article that explains it.

Just ran 3dMark at stock speeds with 2 GB and 1GB respectivly.

2GB-7276
1GB-7278

2GB does not improve your 3dMark score.

I didn't figure it would but your statement about 1g doing better lead me to mean you mean more than 2 pts =P

I hope 3dmark06 is "prettier" and faster would be nice too. The second round at 800x600 at 1fps makes me want to not run it as often as I'd like to.
