Weapon Unlock Progress

Although this has probably been answered before, I'm having trouble finding a clear response in the forum archives.

I just bought Special Forces and installed it. I currently have unlocked the Tier 2 Special Forces gun for vanilla BF2 and have one unlock which I have not used. What happens next? I've heard that once you get three unlocks, you get three bonus unlocks from Special Forces. Is this true?

Are there basically two seperate unlock systems, one for vanilla and one for SF? How do they interact?

I believe you get additional SF unlocks in a number, that responds to "how many unlocks you would have so far if you started playing SF from the beginning". The truth is I was granted 3 additional unlocks after playing 2 hours or so, on SF, but I had 15,000 points earned during 120 hours of vanilla BF already, so I guess I was given those unlocks "I would have got before, if I only had SF"... It's like they are there waiting for you, no matter how far you'll advance in vanilla BF.

And there is one, compact unlock system, with only one rule to understand - you can't use SF unlocks in SF...

Essentially at one of the ranks... SF unlocks are in effect... I think its after your 2nd or 3rd regular unlock.

Pretty much what this means is for every unlock rank after, you will get a total of 2 unlocks for that rank. One for regular bf2 as you would normally and another for SF.

Any unlocks that you earn can be used to unlock ANY weapon, but you can only unlock SF weapons if the regular bf2 version has been unlocked first.

Example: You want the medic SF weapon, and got 2 unlocks for Sgt (one for regular BF and 1 for SF). You would have to unlock the L85 (if you don't have it already) and then unlock the G36-E... Or you could unlock the Jackhammer and the sniper rifle unlock both of which are regular bf2 unlocks.

i think that for every rank you go up you get 2 unlocks. but you dont get unlocks for mst.sgt. and mstgun.sgt but you get them for all the others.you get one new one (sp) and one old one(bf2).
